First of all, I know just enough about networking to be dangerous; which is not very much. I recently changed my internet provider from Comcast to AT&T. Also recently set up a BI computer. The way I have things now is a bit unusual, and I'm wondering if I am setting myself up for disaster.

My fiber internet is run to an AT&T BGW210 modem/router. My google wifi is wired to my BGW210 router. I turned off wifi on the AT&T router, but did not make any other changes such as setting it up for IP passthrough.

I have a POE switch wired to my AT&T router and have 2 IP cameras connected to that. I also have my BI computer network-wired to the AT&T router. All my other devices (computers, tv's, streaming devices and 2 nest cameras) are connected to my google wifi mesh network(either wired or wireless).

Everything seems to be working well this way, except I cannot access my BI remotely with the IOS app. That said, I have not set up port forwarding on my AT&T router yet. I'm assuming when I get that done it will fix this problem.

So does this setup sound like a recipe for disaster, or do you think it is a good logical setup? TIA

Ideally, connect your bi pc to the same switch as the cameras, this will improve performance.
For remote viewing, yes can port forward (not secure), use something like Ngrok (can be more secure with password option but not password cannot be used when using the BI app), or if you want a secure setup, use a vpn. See the wiki on securing your network.

So I guess I could set it up with the AA&T Router > Asus VPN Router > Google Wifi and have my BI computer and cameras wired to the VPN router through a POE switch?

My google wifi is set up and working very well for my other devices. I'd like to keep it in place if I can.
