New Dahua Bullet PTZ - PTZ1C203UE-GN

That's an interesting looking camera. Sleek and trim. If I had money to burn I'd buy one just to play with it and see if I could find it a permanent home.

This camera may actually work in a problem area I have.
Might for me, too.

As a thought experiment I took this shot from just above head height at the side of our shed and simulated what might happen with 3x zoom. It actually turned out better than I thought it might.

No networking out there, though. So either the WiFi version, powerline Ethernet adaptor (I've tested it out there and got stable 90Mb/s) or I'd have to wirelessly backhaul the network out there. (Burying Ethernet is entirely out of the question.)

In fact: Comtrend, the manufacturer of the powerline Ethernet adapters I tested, makes a version that has built-in PoE, as well. Hmmm... Would be an interesting experiment.

Unfortunately, having just spent nearly $800 on what I have, I don't think SWMBO is going to be too amenable to me spending more atm.

thanks. i saw the picture of the camera and it looked like you wouldn't be able to install it under a ceiling..

strange that they list the junction box (PFA731) as wall mount.. i'm assuming you can also use the wall mount junction box for a ceiling mount...?

Don't see why not..

EDIT....Note that the tilt is only 55 degrees. Straight down would be 90 I think.

No networking is just an excuse. ;-)
