return or keep dahua nvr?

I just got this dahua nvr from aliexpress and smelt a burnt smell on power up, is this an insta return or is it more of a superficial thing and i should ask for a partial refund?
the top of the motherboard is fine but underneath...

normally i would return straight away but getting this system up asap has been a big priority as my shop has had its windows broken twice in 2 weeks by some little shit doing drivebys in the area

Given the proximity to the backup battery I'd make some settings changes, shut down, disconnect the power for a while, then power up again and check the settings have held.

All that said, I'd not want to keep anything which has done that.

i think i'll just insta return then , i've read that aliexpress is a real pain when dealing with returns
