Looking for a decent night vision camera for sleep monitoring for a toddler. This should be 720p 30 fps or 1080p 30fps with a clear image at night, motion trigger, record to SD card. Needs to fit on a temporary mount (we have a flex arm that should hold most cameras). An audio trigger would be a bonus, although at this point we are not sure if we will need that.

Our kid has "benign" seizures when falling asleep. There is some twitching at night where we'd like to have a better idea what is going on. These are not what you'd generally think of as seizures with a lot of jerking and loss of control (this is not a request for medical advice, we have done a full night sleep EEG and there is no indication at this point the kid is in danger)

I picked up a Reolink Argus Eco which annoyingly only records in 15 fps. That won't be good enough.

We are in Germany currently which limits availability. I found a favorable review of the Dahua IPC-K35S but the closest seller is in Italy...

Looking for 'starlight ip camera' on Amazon, I could not find much. It doesn't have to be perfect, I would be looking for a few options that I can check availability on. Thanks!

I have no personal experience with the K35A or K35S but have installed several Amcrest (re-branded Dahua) indoor models with great results: the IP2M-841 is 1080p, ONVIF, wired or wireless, 2-way audio with mike in/speaker out jacks, Blue Iris compatible, has SD card slot, PT and digital zoom. Available in white, black or silver, wall or ceiling mount or desktop.

I have had such for 6 months on Blue Iris without a hiccup. I have also installed 4 of it's lower res cousins, the 720p IPM-721 in 2 businesses + 1 in my living room on the piano over 3 years ago, all running without a hitch. It has similar specs as the 841 but is 720p.

Amcrest offers a 3MP version, the IP3M-941B , but I have not used it.

EDIT: the 2 cams I mentioned first have 1/4"-20 threaded hole in bottom for typical tripod mount and should fit the flex arm you linked.

EDIT #2 of 4/1/21: V3 of the IP2M-841 does NOT provide relay I/O nor jacks for an external mic and speaker.

Get a wyzecam. They are 1080, Motion, sound alerts. Clear image, great software etc etc.

And it's 20$...

I have a couple and use 1 for baby cam as well. The developers are also interested in listening and responding to community.

Might be worth a try, it's hard to predict quality (especially in night mode) based on megapixels. But they are available on Prime which is a big plus. Thanks.

You're right....you'll know before the 30 day period is up.

I am tempted, but it appears none of the Dahua pro cameras have WLAN ... Thanks for the recommendation though, if I find myself needing better quality, I'll get this and an AP to install locally

You can add a wifi extender to any camera. To place it on your home wifi network. For normal security I never recommend wifi, but for your family monitoring this is a good solution. I have used a Netgear extender with a rj45 connector.

I've used close to a dozen of these and it's predecessor over the years in client mode, works great...turned old xBoxes into wireless, gave some boost to a church's wireless laptop several rooms away from the AP, turned a network laser printer into wireless, supports Router, AP, Client, Repeater and WISP operation modes: TP-LINK TL-WR802N . Runs on 5VDC, either from it's AC to USB adapter or the USB port of the device it's tied to.

Now you've done it. Went to AMZ to check out that mini-travel router, and found his similar 5.0GHz brother, the AC750 model TL-WR902AC

Nice!
If it's anywhere near as good as the 802, it's worth the extra $5 for sure.
A lot of the older reviews criticized the V1 release of the hardware and the associated firmware.
They are supposed to be on V3 by now, with better firmware. I'll know in a day or two.
I seriously can't believe some of the 1-star and 2-star reviews. It cannot possibly be THAT difficult.

I've used plenty of these and they are a great piece of kit for any of these uses.

My wife was in hospital for a bowel resection (crohn's disease) and the tv in the hospital (UK) is a joke £10 per day for tv and internet. Ok if your only there for a day or so but when your bed bound for 2 weeks at 28 not so good.

So I took one of these little babies up and velcro it to the back of the tv thing in the bay, plugged it into the ethernet port and hey presto free personal wifi on her tablet.

"little babies" is perfectly accurate. Also very easy and quick to setup. I just wish it had more Ethernet ports (it's only got the one.)

The WLAN isn't as much an issue cost wise, it adds to the complexity and risk of being played with by a toddler. In fact I have a spare router which I can use in bridge mode. In fact I'd insist on a 2x2 (AC1300) router / AP in an apartment ...

FWIW I opted for a Hikvision DS-2CD2425FWD EXIR/'darkfighter' cube cam. It's been difficult to configure, but has much better image quality.

That's a good little camera. A lot of us got the earlier style/model of this Hikvision 'cube' a few years ago. They've been flawless.
