Banned Chinese Security Cameras Are Almost Impossible to Remove

The only way to block a camera from the WAN is to remove it physically from access to the wan. Do you trust the router manufacture ? I do not. Blocking by IP is a bad joke.

Why would they sell something they are 'banning'?

Because they're banning it from Government networks / facilities, not banning ownership.

Therefore there's no reason why these cameras couldn't be used by private individuals or companies not in the business of manufacturing defence or aerospace or technology related items. The danger from these cameras come when they're used in nationally sensitive facilities or high technology companies where the parts, technologies or what they observe eg Government activities may be of interest to foreign governments or technology firms.
