Lens Flare on HFW5241E-Z12E

After installing the new 5241-Z12 the images get lens flares, both when morning sunlight is reflected off a car, and at night when tail lights cross the scene. Is there a way to lessen this lens flare, which I never saw before on the 5231-Z5 camera?

Also, getting plates at night seems to be problematic, while it was fairly easy with the Z5. I might have to park my idling car down the dark street for a couple of hours, to get the plate capture to work, as intermittent night traffic is all hit and miss. It almost seems that the IR on the Z12 is less than I have on the Z5. (Using IR manual, NearLight = 0, FarLight = 100 for a target distance of ~160')

I'm at 120ft with the older 5231-Z12's and have added IR and have the onboard IR to manual 100% on both.

I use the following settings at night, and turn Contrast way up. No backlight on this one.

I remember you posting the model of the IR lamp you had acquired, and I'll find that in the forum. Having extra IR would be good.

I used the Tendelux 200ft version, but honestly, Id look for something with a more focused beam angle, like to try this one

That one does, I cant get the first one to play..

I do get a flare similar at certain times, caused by a street sign nearby. Shoudnt hurt you from getting the plate tough. Looks like you need more IR?

Thanks for the recommendations, bigredfish. The S-SA6P-15_IR or even the 30_IR looks good, but how would a PoE source work with only the one network cable connected to the camera? Does the power source come from one of the cable leads coming out of the camera?

No, They do make splitters and PoE IR units but I’m not up to speed on how to use them. I’ve always ran a separate wire to power the IR unit.

That power lead on the camera is for power IN to the camera, not out.

The latest camera I just put up yesterday was doing this at night. In fact it may have been on the substream 1. I went back into the camera today and fixed a couple of items that I overlooked. One was the infrared light adjustment. I have the shutter speed at 1/2000 for normal, day and night.

You can use a POE splitter, then you would power both the camera and the IR emitter from the 12vdc output of the spliltter. Be aware of the total wattage draw doesn't exceed the POE splitters specs.

Can the Dahua camera work with either 850nm or 940nm? The 940nm is invisible to the human eye, and I'd rather flash the street with stealth IR. Looking at the CMVision IR324-850940 Combo 45 degree 324pc IR illuminator, with a range of 200 feet on AMZN for $80. CMVision seems to get spotty reviews on weatherproofing and returns, though.
