Can the Dahua camera work with either 850nm or 940nm? The 940nm is invisible to the human eye, and I'd rather flash the street with stealth IR. Looking at the CMVision IR324-850940 Combo 45 degree 324pc IR illuminator, with a range of 200 feet on AMZN for $80. CMVision seems to get spotty reviews on weatherproofing and returns, though.
Ive heard but cant confirm that the cameras will see 940nm but it will be noticeably dimmer than 850nm.

Regular red LED's really arent an issue in most cases. Its not like the area is lit up with a red glow or anything. You can see the red glow of the LEDs when looking straight at them close up, but the neighbors arent going to complain about the light.

The IR-200-940 model on AMZN has this statement:

Warning: 940nm IR Illuminator is only work for cameras which has IR Filter Cutter Removal Function. Lots of cheap CMOS camera will not work with 940nm IR Illuminator. Make sure camera specification is match with 940nm wavelength also.

This is invisible wavelength IR Illuminator special for 940nm IR Cut Camera.

If you use for regular 850nm IR Camera, the Infrared Light feed to Camera will cut of 1/3 of total Lumins.

I just went back through my 4 LP cameras. I made sure that the substream was not activated in the Video section. I noticed on camera 1 I could only have 6FPS and the reason was the substeam was activated. Now I can have many more FPS and settled for 12. I made sure all modes, normal, day and night were in B/W. I have the shutter speed set at 1/2000 as this seems to work best for me. Camera #2 was set at 1/1000 at night for some reason and I changed it 1/2000. I have the sharpness at 60 as I have copied someone else on this.

Everything seems to be working just fine. Last night I was able to read every license plate. Some are a little dirty but going frame by frame I can make out the letters and numbers as the light and angle changes on the plate. We shall see what tonight brings. By the way the flare is gone on camera 3 that looked like what DLONG2 had. :)

Edit: I notice with my cameras they like a little angle to the camera versus head on. The letters and numbers get sharper.

Something else I am going to try today/tonight. Where the 4 license plate cameras are located I also have 4 other cameras covering the same area. On these cameras I have disabled the IR, so I have turned the IR back on for these cameras and I want to see if they make any difference in reading the plates. I will let you know how this turns out.
