Hello,

I have a Jidetech IPD-D53M02 series (AKA P2-20X-5MP) camera. It runs fine on the local LAN and through a VPN connection remotely. The problem comes when I try to do port forwarding through the remote end firewall. In this case, the camera connects via the HTTP port, but there is no video for the main stream or the sub stream, MJPEG seems to work ok.... Any clues for me?? Here's the setup:

CAM ---- Switch----- firewall w/port forwarding-----Internet----firewall----switch----browser client (IE)

It's going to depend on which ports are needed - and which ports are being allowed.
But why are you doing this very risky stuff if you have a working VPN remote solution?

I am trying to understand how this camera works... i.e., I know how to do port forwarding and I know how to do VPN... VPN works while port forwarding does not.... Hence, something is going on that I do not understand.... but what?

I guess I am going to have to find a hub and use wireshark.... or when I am onsite, just use wireshark on the client machine....

It's down to what ports are needed and which have been allowed in.
Using a VPN is like being on the local LAN - allows them all.
