I ordered the IPC-B5442E-ZE from Andy on Tuesday and it arrived this Friday. It arrived early enough in the day that I already have it mounted. :) It is replacing a Hikvision 12mm 2MP bullet with a 1/2.8" sensor. I have noticed that at full zoom it does not quite match the field of few of the 12mm Hikvision. It comes up short. So what I will do is order the 8-32mm version and put this camera in place of a 4mm Hikvision camera that I have. I am waiting for nightfall to see how this camera does in comparison.
If you mean the new Z4 model, the min illumination specs show it to be even better than the ZE

Do show us some nighttime color samples when you get it @Parley

Here are the night pictures between the two cameras. Let me just say I am sold on the IPC B5442E ZE. ;) The range is 2.7mm to 12mm and camera is at 12mm and fully out. The Hikvision is also rated at 12mm. You can see the difference. So I will order the IPC-B5442E-Z4E 4MP and that one is in 8-32mm and I will put this camera in a different location and replace that camera. I can see me ordering maybe 4 more over the coming months. :) Camera 3B Dahua 4MP.jpg Camera 3B Hikvision 2MP.jpg

Here is the reason I want to go with the 8-32mm version in that location. A lot of that area is already covered by this camera and this is the spot that the IPC B5442E ZE will go. Also I want to get a better facial image of someone snooping around the back door. So more zoom is needed. Also another view of the backyard with a Hikvision 6mm. This camera will get upgraded in the near future.

Thanks for the link!
with my intended night time target 80 to 120 feet away, it seems the ir reach of 120m. would be a plus for me.
These cameras are getting a bit better all the time.

Yes indeed. IMHO this camera is a big step forward and the price is right.

Ok, here is a night photo of the same area but zoomed in more with the 8-32mm camera now installed. IMHO the detail is a great improvement. I have to say I am very pleased with these cameras and they are at the top of my list. Over the coming months I will be upgrading most of my cameras to this model or the IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP. Again IMHO this is the go to camera.

I agree @Parley , I think they surpass the 5231 series. That new Z4E seems to have the best minimum illumination specs yet.

Of course with the fixed version we have the Smart IR problem, basically in the center within about 15ft it washes out. Past that and to the sides it seems fine.

I’m guessing the Z4E is better with regards to close in Smart IR... can you confirm?

Has anyone posted a review of the Z4E yet? I thought I saw one but can't find it now, so either I'm remembering wrong or just not finding the thread.
