Let's see, the US hasn't adopted the metric system yet, what will a new calendar do for civilization?

For me personally, I am happy with the existing calendar and don't see it as a problem. What I would like to see changed is Daylight Savings Time by getting rid of it...what a PITA twice a year! That's just my 2 cents.

Can only imagine the time it takes to get new firmware to reflect the changes, lol
Yeah, remember how the world was going to end 1 second after midnight Dec. 31st, 1999 with all the Y2K panic?

Yeah, I remember spending that New Years Eve sitting in a server room, with two other people, watching nothing happen and management had us stay until 3AM. It wasn't like we hadn't already tested all the servers, offline, by rolling their calendars over weeks ahead of time. There was some "magic" that would cause it to only happen when the planets were aligned just so, I guess.

On a similar note, it's only been 20 years...let's debate this to death:

"The 21st century did not begin until 1 second after midnight Dec. 31st, 2000...not 1999."

How about we just speed up time?
