The automation hub does the magic. The SAGE is just a sensor. When the driver of the sensor tells the hub the button on the doorbell is pressed, you instruct the Hub, with its internal functionalities (RuleMachine in Hubitat) to do whatever action you need. In my case, I instructed Hubitat to ring the Aeotec Siren 6 Chime and after 3 seconds announce on all the Amazon Echo devices spread in all the house that "Someone's at the gate".

The Hubitat driver for the SAGE sensor is derived from the SmartThings driver, so you will have no issues if you use one of these hubs. I don't know if there's a driver for OpenHab or HomeAssistant, but I bet they made it.

I can make as many rules as necessary.

Potentially,
sending out 4 seperate commands

1.)
to Announce on, all Alexa audio devices,

2.)
to Broadcast to, all, Google audio devices,

&, possibly,

3.)
to stream to, all, local, Chromecast capable video devices,

to stream to, all, local, Alexa video capable devices.

Sounds like they will run together, I use to have dual, even triple O/S/NOS Boot partitions on one PC back in the day. So basically you could boot into any O/S but they did not work together. This would be great news, if it works right.

Hi all, I've installed the RCA version, and really wanted to stream this to my Synology NAS. Other than some initial problems getting it connected to WiFi, I have it showing live view in the App (RCA), and I can get the RTSP stream running properly on my desktop in VLC. I ran it for the last 24 hours and it didn't seem to have a hitch - and I'm pleased with the camera picture. However, I can't seem to get it added to the Synology Surveillance station software. I add it as User Define type, and put in the RTSP address as - "admin:password@XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:554/Streaming/Channels/101/" however, I can't get it to complete a successful test and add the camera. I also read that changing some config on the advanced page helps, but that would require adding the camera first, which I can't get past. Does anyone have some help or advice for me? I've checked that the RTSP protocol is allowed through the Synology firewall.

I also seem to see quite a lag in testing the doorbell notifications. I've only seen 1 come up on my phone in 3 tries, and it showed for only a second or two - not long enough for me to answer it in the app, plus it was at least 10 seconds delayed. I can set the motion detection (or whatever), and it beeps in my phone and attempts to take a picture. Are the any config tips I should follow?

I run a solid wifi signal throughout the house, with a couple Ubiquity unifi AC pros, and a gigabit wired network, so things are pretty reliable otherwise... I really want this to work.

It's not my video, but I've asked my installer if he could. I think you can try when you are on YouTube instead of watching it inline:

I see the closed caption button now ... If the installer just recently uploaded the video and a deaf person like myself tried ti watch it .. Youtube usually auto generate the closed caption within a day for the video as long who upload the video toggle it on to allow youtube to auto generate the closed captioning.

Seem that he had it enabled.

You got it. The sensor basically tells the hub what happened (button pressed on videodoorbell), that is the trigger. Once the hub is triggered with that notification, you create your process based on actions.

Hubitat has a very powerful engine called RuleMachine which lets you do everything you might ever need, also concatenated actions with conditions. Very powerful tool. I only use its basic functionalities but I saw very creative things done with it.

Never had issues on my Synology DS1812+. Here are the screenshots of my settings for each tab.

The rtsp connection string is: rtsp:/admin:＃＃＃＃＃@192.168.1.146:554/Streaming/Channels/101/



Did you check the network? Ping is ok? Can you access port 554 on the IP of the camera (test with telnet)?

again, it's early days for me, I have a few scattered smart devices, but I'm just starting into autimation?

I do Have the 3rd Gen Smart Things Hub, but have yet to make use of it.


On a Totally Unrelated Note:

Currently, As we speak, I'm struggling with a couple of Lenovo smart plugs.
I can not for the life of me get them to pair.
supposedly, according to, postings, in the lenovo device forums, one is supposed, to be able to pair them, with the Tuya smart app, but no luck, on my end. Their are supposed to be 2 different pairing modes,
1, where the light flashes quickly, "twice per second",
and,
1, where the light flashes slowly, "once every 3 seconds",
But,mine, on both,
Only flash once per second,
no matter how many times I've,
reset it,
held the button down for 4-5 seconds,
and a bunch of other crazy attempts,
always the same result
1 flash per second

if it were only one unit showing this behavior,
I might think defective product but both give the same results
I'm at my wits end with these F***ing things
