Hi all

I am considering changing my NVR from a Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2-8P to a Dahua DHII-NVR5208-8P-4KS2 as the Dahua had a couple of little features that I cannot find on the Hikvision, can someone please shed some light on these features if they are able to be done on the Hikvsion. I am considering updating my cams anyway and have not decided on them yet so open to either.

The Dahua seems to capture a snapshot of an even on the NVR and you can search the snapshots, can this be done on the Hik?

On the Dahua you can have multiple lines in the line crossing and multiple regions on the motion detection with different sensitivities can this be done on the Hik?

Have you checked out and experimented with the Picture top-level menu in the NVR web GUI?
Mate thanks for that, yeah I had looked in there in the past and searched on both motion and alarm and there was nothing there, everything seems to be bundled under Event , the one area I did not check

So you are wanting to capture a picture when you are watching playback? There is an icon with a camera during the liveview/playback that you can click to take a snapshot. For the motion detection you can select different regions. Just instead of clicking on the full screen button, make multiple boxes on the screen shot on the motion detection page. As far as line crossing it seems to depend on the camera. I have had some that only gave me one line... Others I have had two and the max I have seen was four. I was a drop down menu under the line crossing menu under event/advanced and once you select the "line" then you get the options for the "A<=>B, A=>B, etc". Just remember to save/apply before going to a different "line".

Hi lewic
I am more wanting to get a snap shot on events as they are happening if you know what I mean, with the motion on the Dahua's you can select 4 regions on the camera with different sensitivities for each region and was wondering if the Hik have the same function e.g

In this pic you will noting there is 4 different colour shaded areas each can have their won sensitivity

I don't think you can set this up directly on the I series NVR. The advanced motion detection settings available only in the camera webpage will allow you to set up separate areas for motion detection with individual sensitivities. In addition in the camera webpage you can set up "upload to FTP/Memory Card/NAS" for the event linkage which I'm assuming would store as a clip. In the storage section of the camera webpage you could enable "event triggered snapshot" to achieve what you want but I'm pretty you'd need to add a memory card to your cameras for this. In effect you'd get your 24/7 recording on your NVR while events were captured on the micro SD card (storage > schedule settings > capture > capture parameters) I've not used this but may be worth a look
