Here is a short video from last night showing a couple out walking. This is where I am at on my night tuning. I did forgot to play with the gamma. I am always open to suggestions. I would love to hear from the Dahua engineers for their input seeing as they know the software inside out. :)

That is an amazing video :) Awesome ! you can also set auto tracking just for humans in the camera :D that way it will track and zoom but it is hit/miss :) So it may work good but sometimes could be a miss at-least you can try it.. how you like it.

I might just do that over the next few days. That is something I have not done before but in this case it might well be worth it and another learning experience for me. As the saying goes, I have nothing to lose. :)

You should have it zooming in while tracking as the image will be lots more useable then like below a night capture of my SD49225-XA just now. I thing the tracking size could come down from 55 to 45 - 50 to keep the people in full frame all the time. What I have noticed your street lighting looks much better than I have here.

I was playing with it today and I do not think it works with my Hikvision NVR. It was sort of working when I was hooked directly into the camera. I used trip wire on the 4 sides. I was thinking maybe intrusion would be better. However when I hook the camera back up to the NVR nothing was happening with the people and cars moving through the scene. Yours is working very nicely. :)

I had a camera likes yours hooked up in this location a couple of years ago. Here is a picture from back then. I think the camera has been through a few upgrades since then.

Sounds like you need a NVR upgrade . The SD49225XA-HNR is not years old it's a pretty new camera in the 2020 catalogue.
Dahua SD49225XA-HNR is KING for me and not seen anything better to date especially from its performance vs price....less than 300 bucks considering ordering another just as a spare. :)

I didn't think the older SD49225 and the pro SD59 series which I owned can be compared to the SD49225XA as it's in a different league altogether , they was ok camera's daytime but night time was plagued with blurry out of focus un useable images especially on moving objects I know had them both. If the objects was still like your above then the picture quality was very good until movement as you probably know and probably why you upgraded.

Your Dahua 4K PTZ DH-SD8A820WA-HNF will out perform and put to shame the SD49225-XA during the day but when low light night comes is a different matter. Just compare your new 4mp Starlight with the above it will out perform the 8mp even though it has a larger sensor I would think.

You may be right. However my objects are at a distance and in reality there is not all that much light out there. The larger sensor makes it seem like there is more light than there is. Also this morning it looks like the camera is trying to track people. Right now I have it set with 4 trip wires in a square. Maybe I should try the "intrusion" set up. I am new at the tracking and I am still learning. By the way the 4K PTZ DH-SD8A820WA-HNF out performs my 4MP starlights with the 1/1.8" sensor both day and night. The details and faces are better with the 4K PTZ DH-SD8A820WA-HNF. I have to agree that your videos are very good. :) I appreciate your imput. ;)

Here are some of my settings which may help you but all depends on distances and where and how it zooms in at a particular time. I just want to say I am no expert myself far from it but these settings seam to work pretty well. I always find if you set the Target Filter to small it helps and keep the Max to Max unless you want to concentrate on a particular area. I like the setting Tracking Size set between 40-65 and also had some good results at 100% for close up zoom in captures.

Hey we are all here to learn from each other and if I can contribute even a little bit then that makes me happy.2020-05-02 19_57_06-.jpg2020-05-02 19_56_04-.jpg2020-05-02 19_55_43-Setting - Internet Explorer.jpg2020-05-02 19_55_24-.jpg2020-05-02 19_55_07-.jpg2020-05-02 19_54_47-Microsoft Store.jpg2020-05-02 19_53_57-.jpg2020-05-02 19_53_10-Setting - Internet Explorer.jpg2020-05-02 19_51_58-Setting - Internet Explorer.jpg

Thank you for that. I appreciate the time you took to add those pictures. :) I think I will add an intrusion square to my 4 trip wires and see what happens. In reality my intersection will be very busy at times and may not work as planned. I just need to play with the settings some more.

Well, the intrusion with one big square did the trick. It is tracking everything now. :) I will keep it like this for a while and see how I like it. I also changed the trip wires to only interring the square drawn by the 4 trip wires. So, in reality I am not sure which one worked. ;)

If that was my view I would set the intrusion box in RED and trips in GREEN and again this is just a guide what I have experienced with mine and it works well with the settings I give you above. I have used 2x trip wires in case one fails the other should capture and If I remember you can have a Max 32

After you have set these up go to live view in the Web Gui and you should see where it is tracking with a RED flashing square around where it's tracking and this will give you some idea on what adjustments you will need to make.

Actually that is not bad and close to what I have. I may change it to more like you have drawn it. Mainly the house on the upper right, the people were out doing the lawn etc. and I do not need the camera to be focused on them doing their front yard chores. As I suspected the intersection can get busy with things like people walking and multiple cars moving about and the camera will lose sight of some things. I will say the tracking feature of this camera is actually working pretty good. Thank You for your input.
