Ok. But your link you posted sent me to the below page.

I am sure it is worth it to you. And others may find it perfect for their situation.
Those pop up on ebay for under $500 from time to time. I was able to pick one up a couple weeks ago. Still playing around with my setup though.

Not sure how to gauge the PPF. If I want just the side of the stop sign (one lane) it's 95 to 100 feet away and about the same PPF.

For the whole width of the street it is 43 PPF.

Trust me you wont be happy with a 12mm lens at that distance. At 120ft I use 85%+ of the 64mm lens on the Z12 series.

Get the Z12

Thanks, makes sense if I have to go with 2 cameras for sure. I don't need the lower FOV at that point.

Just need to figure out how, it gets to + 100f in the summer and - 20's in the winter here. So not sure the splitter device noted above will survive in that soffit under those temps. Maybe there is an external box somewhere?

I have put mine in a junction box and my neighbor just stuck his in the soffit. Both are running strong. We get a string of 90 degree plus days and many days below zero - these things produce enough heat the lower temp shouldn't be an issue. The biggest issue would be not to let it get wet.

Most of these devices, including cameras, run "hot". Look at people on here that tested cameras in their climate control house and was getting 100+ readings.

I agree, go with the Z12.

passive splitter set is also an option. one at the NVR combines two into one, another at the cams splits into two.
Amazon.com: TNP RJ45 Ethernet Cable Combiner/Splitter Kit (4 Pair) - 2 Male to 1 Female POE Data Adapter LAN Ethernet Network Extender Y Splitter Cat5 Cat5e Cat6 UPOE Cable for Surveillance Security Monitoring: Home Audio & Theater
get the 2MMF if both cams pigtails can reach the splitter, MMF + MFF if you need to run another ethernet to the second cam.
doesn't work for PoE mode B (some NVR's), but cheap enuf to try and worth having in your toolkit...

Okay, my IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E was delivered today (thank you Andy @EMPIRETECANDY).

Have never used a Dahua before, for for LPR duty specifically, any settings I can configure now before I put the camera into it's "resting" place? Pouring rain today/tomorrow so likely won't get to mounting the camera for a day or three...

It will be a journey as no two locations are the same with regard to angle, ambient light, car speed, etc...

Here's my current favorite setting on my most active LPR cam. Up Contrast a bunch
EntTagNight-0610-2020.jpg

Focus point is key, to get reliable plates you'll want to zoom in tight and it wont be much good for anything else

Thx, will have a look. My vantage point is pretty much dead on to cars coming into the subdivision and stopping at a stop sign, so hopefully that proves to be an "easier" setup. Having said that, headlights are always dead on, not sure if that will cause issues.

Camera is certainly larger than I thought it would be!

Was going to pick up a basic Sandisc 128gb microsdxc class 10 card, presumably most class 10 cards are compatible?

No I run color on that one during the day. I just use Schedule to switch about 30-45 minutes prior to sunset and 30-45 min after sunrise to minimize problems with focus.

Thanks, does Auto not work well in terms of shifting between Day and Night mode? With my Hiks it seems to work fairly well. Though again the area is fairly lit as it sits under a street light, wondering if I will be able to just leave it in Day/color mode. I assume I will only be able to get that side of the road with the camera.

The above was at midnight in Day mode with my 2CD2142FWD, which isn't that great with low light.

That camera (the Z12) has issues with keeping focus during the Day/Night switch, particularly over 80% zoom. It helps if you can have the switch occur while there's still enough light for it to find something to focus on.

Here are my settings for the 5224-Z4E. I run color at day and B/W at night. Cameras switch over between the two settings 45 minutes prior to Sunset and 45 minutes after Sunrise. I also run HLC Backlight compensation at night only.
