Cat left a dead mouse on the patio near the house back door and bald eagle obviously saw it and wanted it. The camera shot is from a 3.6mm wide angle Dahua 102 feet away. I cropped the video down to make it more visible but obviously lower quality due to the tight crop.
  • Camera: 3.6mm Dahua IPC-T5442TM-AS 102 feet away (this camera wasn't intended to provide shots this far away - keep that in mind when watching the grainy video :) )
  • 2nd cam shot at 01:00 is a IPC-HFW4431R-Z

Here's what the original pre-crop image capture looked like to give an idea of distance from cam:

The vid is 13 mins long because the housemembers wanted to see the whole thing and pardon my editing (lack of) skills - repeated parts of it. Just go to the spots below for the action.

@00:01 cat sees eagle land in yard and arches back in chair
@1:00 cat makes 1st lunge
@05:58 replay of 1st cat lunge from far cam
@9:00 2nd cat lunge at eagle
@9:30 eagle grabbing dead mouse from grass
@13:00eagle flying away - far shot (a nice shot actually)

Soooooo, this shows me that I need another camera set up zoomed towards the back of the house now. LOL..... Andy.... where are you. hahaha.

That cat is cocky and small - 5lbs max. I think karma was in play for the cat for the other birds it's killed in it's lifetime :lol:. I just wonder what was going through the cat's mind when that bird started coming towards it LOL.

I also meant to say I'm jealous that you get bald eagles in your yard! We see an osprey every now and then, various types of hawks, lots of turkey vultures but never a bald eagle. The hawks take out chickens that some of our neighbors have when the chickens get too careless and stray into large open spaces.

Never seen one on the ground in the years living here, seen them in trees and flying but never landed. That it could see a dead mouse on the patio under a balcony in a treed area is just crazy!

Oh, because of this eagle capture, I've been given the ok to add more cameras - well at least one more but maybe I'll sneak in a couple. Love it!!

It’s amazing how big those birds are. We have a nesting pair in the woods behind our house. Sometimes they will be walking on the ground and they are the size of turkeys.

Reminds me of a clip I caught some time ago b/w in the dark. Cat came walking up the driveway with something rat-sized in its mouth. Coyote charged from behind. Cat dropped the rat and ran off, coyote grabbed the rat and walked off.
