Why are the night time samples in BW / IR?

I thought the whole point of this camera like the Hik was to enable full colour at night. ATM, I've seen nothing to persuade me toward Dahua when compared to the
Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L). To me from what I've seen so far the 8mp Hik is still the king.
These videos are not of the Full Color Dahua camera LOL. These are of a camera that is 2MP on the 1/1.8 sensor.

We are still waiting for the videos and examples of the Dahua 8MP full color cam and comparison to the Hik.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing - to IDENTIFY at 40 feet for a 3.6mm seems like a lot.
Well there are 2x the number of pixels vs a 4mp camera, so theoretically you should be able to go twice the distance and still get the same PPF number.

Can share you a daytime pic, 1st one is from dahua, 2nd one is from hik,
hik has too white on the pics, make the floor lost the real color. . The whole pic from hik is more brighter than dahua. Night pics dahua still adjusting on it, will have a beta firmware for testing next week, will see it. Sure colorvu and latest dahua 4k Full color cams are great cams.

All just a quick update on my full color 4K testing. I've completed a ton of testing already and have things about ready to post. However as I mentioned to you, I am also trying to get ahead of any FW bugs as I see them to have Dahua address before release. In working with Dahua directly I've already had them address 3 very quickly. I've identified 4 more bugs which I've taken to Dahua and they are currently working on fixing before sending me a new FW update in the next week or so. I have footage captured, videos ready (for the most part) but I'm just waiting to see if I see any further improvements in the next FW before starting the review thread :)

I'm also going to give you frame synced overlays of the 4K vs the 5442 in the videos, on top of the standard caps so you can see both full screen and side by side comparison. I have ensured that I include a ton of detailed night captures due to the area that this segment of the Dahua portfolio of cams is focusing on, 4K full color.

COMING SOON :)

As interesting as the 4k full colour is, I hope there are plans for an ir version of this cam. I just don't have enough light in most locations for full colour.

@cd36 let me know what type of lighting you have in the locations you are I treated in as chances are I may be testing those conditions anyway. Either way, let me know. Thanks

By the way the photo of the car in my post #106 has a story behind it. The car does not run and he pushes it back and forth to avoid street sweeper day and a ticket from two cities. My back wall is actually in Garden Grove and in reality that is the neighbors wall. This side of the back wall is the Southern city limit of the City of Cypress which I live in. So he just pushes it back and forth once a week.

Alot of yards I deal with have virtually no lighting. I know it's not ideal for cameras, but I deal with rural yards and farms where people don't want yard lights on at night.

I'll take some light level readings at some of the yards that do have yard lighting to do a comparison with.

Sounds like a plan

Do you have the capability to take some videos with zero ambient light? From past videos I know your place looks fairly dark but unsure if you have any street lights/neighbours providing ambient light.

Ideally I'd like to see the cam in pitch dark.

@cd36 my night testing includes the following:
  1. No light, just that from the illuminators built into the 4K
  2. 1 x 250w Spotlight shown at 100% all the way down to 5% (12.5w of light)
  3. 1 x 100w LED bulb
  4. Combination of the above (at varying light levels) as I always like to show how you can balance a scene for best overall results etc

Therefore I think #1 would meet your interest as that test (albeit a short one ) looks at what the cam itself can provide even when no other direct lighting in location. The illuminators can be set to Auto or Manual (manual allowing you to control near and far brightness as this cam has 4 LED's instead of the 2 on the Hik which is another benefit of the Dahu in controlling near and far brightness). Remember though that as I said before, every cam needs some light to be even partially effective in color at night and with 4K you absolutely need some so you don't lose targeting ability or detail to noise. Therefore as most people have a form of light even if 60w, 100w or a portion of that in place) that is the bulk of the night footage.

I'm also overlaying distance markers in the first video clip that will show I test out to 62' and as close at 5 - 10'.

That help ?

Yup that no light should be what I'm after.

Just alot of people that post videos on here have alot of light from neighbours and street lights. So good to know your no light test truely has no ambient light.

Where I am id say the majority of people have zero ambient lighting. Basically worse case scenario for a camera.

Yes, that is great, thanks!
We plan to release the goods with less bugs and no big troubles, dahua new products has lots of problems last year, work a lot on it to make the perfect, like HDW5231R-ZE, IPC-T5442TM-AS,IPC-T5442T-ZE B5442E-ZE and the IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E.
Next week, Wildcat will share his review for us, big work, thanks to him!

I think we also have to give Dahua and Andy big credit for allowing an independent and unbiased person such as Wildcat_1 to thoroughly go through these new cameras that Dahua is putting out on the market. It can only help them make a better product. :clap:
