I am struggling to get the tracking setup on my SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight camera. I have watched a number of the YouTube videos where others have walked through the steps. It is a fairly simple rule in my back yard. I have been able to setup the RULE AREA and the MIN/MAX sizes. The area is set for intrusion. When I go to my live setting in my preset I do not see the AREA LINES as shown in the vides (should they be there). Also I have not been able to set the period for the rule. I can click on all days/times but it never seems to get saved. Is that maybe the cause?1623941693804.png

Combining what everyone said into one post, and to make sure nothing is missed:

First use Internet Explorer as this camera more than most will not hold or show all settings in other browsers.

You might want to delete that preset and IVS rule and start over to make sure everything sticks.

You need to set up a preset.

Then you need to set-up the Smart Plan with Deep IVS for the presets you want to track.

Since cars won't be in your backyard, turn off motor vehicle LOL.

Then go to Deep IVS Rules Config page and you should see Track Time under alarm and Tracking Target size slider.

When setting up IVS rules, I strongly recommend you use intrusion box with appears and crosses instead of tripwire. And less is more. One IVS rule.

Leave min size as 0,0

Make sure that Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off.

I repeat, make sure Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off LOL.

Based on your field of view, I think target size ratio of 20 is probably accurate.

wittaj, wildcat_1, tibimakai, sebastiantombs....thanks gang, the browser was a big issue (makes sense on why the playback screen was always so empty) I knew stuff had to be missing. I did a walk through and in playback motion was detected prior to entering teh zone. Once I hit the zone the border flashed red on both entry and exit. The only thing that did not happen was a zoom and follow.

You will need to fine tune the tracking size to suit your FOV , try 5 step increments at a time until you are happy with the results also try walking further away and closer to the camera to make sure it keeps lock as usually if the Tracking size is to large it can loose the object quite quick.

I thought I had my settings good and there was no tracking when I tried it the first time. About an hour later my wife happen to walk into the zone and the camera picked her up tracked and zoomed. Seem to take a few minutes for the camera to register the setup. I'll continue to play with the tracking size. I really like the capabilities of this camera. Hoping Andy will have another sale soon.

Regarding the required IE browser use for the Dahua camera configuration. I found a Chrome extension that can be selected/activated on a Chrome browser page that will bring in IE 7 through 11 compatibility. So the configs are fully functioning in Chrome. Nice to have as IE has a short life span. If a license is purchased (perpetual) $19 the extension has the ability to fire up automatically for specific URL's if you define them in the extension setup.

Let's hope the settings stick - many of us it wouldn't stick even with the ie add-on in Chrome....

Does the tracking time hold or does it go back to 15 seconds?

IE needed for Dahua camera settings:

A couple of weeks ago I disabled Windows updates on my Blue Iris PC (Windows Pro needed for this AFAIK). It's been noted on this forum and elsewhere that IE will be going away. Meaning Microsoft will force you to use Edge (true?) My thinking: I can keep IE if I don't allow WIndows totake it away.

What happens when IE goes away? Windows redirected my IE link to Edge on my desktop PC.

Is Dahua working on this?

Are our current Dahua cameras going to be problematic once Microsoft kills off IE?

Dahua is reportedly working on this.

So far using the IE-TAB extension in Chrome the settings have all remained as I set them. I added two more presets with detection and everything seems to be holding.

So it has taken me a few days to read through 72 pages on this thread. Lots of information available and it's going to be a good resource. Since these cameras have to be fine tuned so much, are there any videos created by say Wildcat_1, ljw2k or others? I can't imagine the amount of time they have put into individual support. That is some major dedication. It would be nice to have some how to videos that they made for each location.

So I set up my Blue Iris server at the first week of January of this year and I went with five Jidetech 5MP 20X POE PTZ cameras one on each side of the house and one higher up to look over a field, and one Jidetech 5MP 4X POE PTZ with AT at the front door. After dealing with all sorts of issues, I sent them all back a month ago. I wanted to get something better after a lot more research as I now had a base to learn from. I kept coming back to Dahua, but they were too expensive for my home use. Then I found out about Lorta, EmpireTech, and Andy. So here I am. I've sent Andy a few emails already asking a few questions.

I'm leaning towards the starting with 4MP SD49425XB (I did not find a review thread for that) for myself and I'll buy them from Andy's Amazon store. The lens size was similar Jidetech's and I was happy with their night performance using IR. We have a lot of bird feeders and we like zooming in and watching the birds. At night, we get deer, raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and very rarely, a bear that comes into the back yard. I'd like the camera to track the wild life in addition to the 2 legged kind. The back fence is 80 feet (24 meters) from the camera. The front of the house is a residential street, people walking, cars, etc. I'm going to hang one of the 4MP at the front garage door eve as well. There is one street light there, so maybe the starlight will be enough for that. Don't know until I try. Does auto tracking work well using IR?

I'm going to put one of the EmpireTech IPC-T5442T-ZE 4MP IR Vari-Focal Eyeball at at the front door to see who comes up to the front door and to notify the camera hanging on the garage eve to swing around look at the front door.

I know the 2MP is the preferred unit for most here because of it's night performance. We watch the birds and like the increased resolution and I'd like to have a clearer view during the day. 1080p is so 2006. :) I'm thinking I might get a 2MP that mounts at the top of the 2nd story roof to look out over the field that is behind our back yard and use starlight for that. I know I don't have enough spotter cams and the the PTZs may not always look where they need to and I'm find with that for now.

Thoughts or opinions on this. Am I barking mad? I've attached a few pictures of the back yard and the front of the house from the Jidetech cameras.

Thanks for putting this together! My settings were working ok, but felt they could be better. I had Video and Smart Motion Detection enabled and multiple rules (intrusion and trip wire), so i'll see how a more simple one works. And not to mention, i was using chrome without any IE plugin, now i'll use IE while its still here.

Did you mean Video Detection instead of Motion Detection?

Glad my write up helped. So it says video detection on the left but Motion Detection on the tab at the top. But yes that is it.

I was thinking the same--- BUT you have a very impressive zoom capability with that PTZ. I will take that FOCAL zoom over a digital zoom on a higher res picture any day of the week. This is especially true if you are manually controlling the PTZ at different targets, er, birds. :)

Make sure that Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off.

@wittaj --- If I turn off motion detection, won't I LOSE notifications for deer or other wildlife? While I am definitely wanting to capture people in my zones, I also want to catch the deer and any other wildlife that ventures through my yard and neighborhood.

If you want it for things other than cars or humans, then do not select those boxes in whichever detection method you use.

The 2MP and 4MP version of this camera are on the same sensor size, so that is why the 2MP performs better at night as the 4MP would need double the light of the 2MP.

Does the 4MP version have the same issue that newer software updates remove autotracking support that the 2MP camera has?
