Cannot log in after Firmware update

Hi

I updated the firmware via USB on a HIKVISION NVR DS-7732NI-I4/16P today. It seemed to update fine, when it booted in it ask for a password, I used the same password that it was last set with. It also asked to create a pattern lock but would not accept any of the patterns I tried and then closed so I didn't worry. Then it went to the log in screen and has just a blank drop down box for the username and won't do anything with the inputed password. I have tried pushing firmware again with TFTP server, it either doesn't connect to the NVR, connects but says cannot access file or I had it connect but just loop between "connection success" and "started transmitting". I am at a complete loss, this is an NVR at my work and so we now have no cameras. Is there something simple I am missing? I can't change it in SADP tools. no linked email. reset code from serial number and camera date didnt work.

What were the original and attempted firmware versions?
This sounds like the result quite a few I-series users have had where the configuration data is invalid after updating to the V4.x firmware from too old a V3.x version.
Hikvision published an advisory that specified the needed upgrade steps.

As you have guessed, the fix is to reset the device to default settings, which can be done using the tftp updater method of firmware update.

But if this is the Hikvision tftp updater, it has a 32MB filesize limit that won't work for the large I-series firmware files.
The way round that is to use Scott Lamb's 'tftp updater clone' that doesn't have that limit.
This has worked OK for quite a few people.

HIK DS-7616NI bricked with new firmware 4.0

Im hoping to see if anyone has had this issue. any fixes. Upgraded firmware on hik NVR DS 7616NI AU model. pattern doesnt save, user name is whited out and cant enter. NVR wont work. has Ver4.0 firmware now. IVMS and SADP tools dont connect to NVR. I can ping 192.0.0.64 i can use the TFTP tool...

I am unsure of the original but I attempted to update to

• Firmware_V4.40.017_220126

I will have a look into Scott Lambs method - my computer skills aren't great so I am unsure how his method works

It's a Python script that replicates the way that the Hikvision tftp updater works - without the 32MB filesize limitation.
You'll need to download / install Python 2 to run it.
