Hello,

In our company we use an Dahua NVR ( model DHI-NVR4432-16P-4KS2 )
With 26 cams ( mix dahua & reolink).

Because we have some troubles with the reolinks afte the weekly reboot we disabled the reboot.

But now the strange thing :
--> from time to time the reboot option is again enabled ...

It is unknown why it sets the reboot option again on ?

I changed the admin password to be sure, but is still happening ?

anyone an idea what the reason is?

Thank you for the help.

It's a reolink, what do you expect lol.

Are the reolinks touching the internet?

There are two reasons why a cam will reboot and turn on a boot schedule.

Either 1. its getting too hot in the place it is installed at.
2. or the network becomes unstable.
in the #2 case, if the camera hangs on connection after rebooting (on most switches the link blinks w/o activity light) The switch or network has issues. Other times its cabling or dumping them onto a network that is not an isolated cam network, or using more than one camera per dedicated wifi access point

Yes I know :banghead:

The camera's are not directly exposed to the internet ( behind a firewall & they have an internal 192 adres)
after checking the UPnP function is on, but i guess this not a problem.

To be clear : it is the NVR that reboots.
It reboots because the option "reboot on sundaymorning 02:00" is on.

--> the strange thing is, if i set "never reboot" , after a while the option comes back, and it sets reboot on sundaymorning ...

informative : automatic update of the nvr is on.

strange things

I always turn the automatic updates off. Unless you really need to update it to support a new cam, its not necessary.

Oh, but the NVR is probably connected to the internet then is using P2P or port forwarding to see the cams outside of the network?

The nvr is connected to the internet ( behind a login screen) + we can use the DMSS app to view
So there is a relation, but is there port forwarding ?

To effective view the images you need to be log in ( and we recently changed this password).

From outside you cannot browse to the webinterface of an IP cam.

it is not clear for me if this is the same as port forwarding or P2P?

Either what is happening is the NVR is getting overloaded at that period of time and bugs out and reboots (is there a lot of motion at that time?) or someone is getting into it.

Security cameras and NVRs are ironically not very secure. There are lots of vulnerabilities out there and they can bypass a login screen.

Have you looked at the logs to see if it says anything?

--> the strange thing is that it does not randomy reboot, it enables the function to reboot.

I checked again the logs and something strange is a remark like : "save default configuration <Masslog Workdir>! ".
this happens at night Maybe that is a hint
