Andy always has better firmware. Even if the Dahua date is newer, the firmware has already been tested and used by members here. We have seen the Dahua date that is more recent actually be a firmware revision from months ago that they simply gave it a recent date.
Actually Andy just sent me the latest empire tech firmware which has the same build number as this one.

Well the camera has only been out for like a month LOL, so yeah the dates will match LOL. Give it a year or two LOL. Look at the 5442 series - the latest firmware Dahua has on their website is 07-05-21 and Andy has issued at least three updates since then with the most recent firmware dated 8/18/22.

But in any event, the firmware was provided to Andy's customers before it showed up on Dahua website.

Gotcha, yeah I am obviously very new to this. This is my first camera other than some reolink cameras and one Annke, which I will be returning the reolink’s and possibly the annke most likely.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this issue? I've tried re-setting the ONVIF password using the admin password to auth and I get an bad password error. Not sure how that's possible as I'm using the admin password to login into setting to begin with. I've tried resetting the camera to factory defaults and getting the same error. I'm not able to change the ONVIF password or use the one setup during initialization to get BI to login and detect the camera.

The real issue is I can't get BI to auth to get a video stream using an admin password. Everything works fine using a new non-admin user and password. If I create a new admin account I still can't get BI to auth for the video stream. I can't get BI to detect ONVIF setting use any of the accounts admin or user accounts I create.

I've setup several other Dahua camera's and never had an issue. I'm using IE to make all the password changes.

Running System Version:3.000.0000000.20.RBuild Date:2022-09-2 .

And sometimes it just gets wonky with an ONVIF password conflict.

At some point you either changed the ADMIN password or it didn't carry over to the ONVIF password at initialization or you created a new user and it didn't carry over.

Go into the camera GUI and there is a tab under one of the options where you create users and passwords and there is a tab for ONVIF user. Go to that tab and make the admin password what you want it to be and hopefully that fixes it.

Post screenshots of the ONVIF password screen from the camera and post screenshots of the pop-up window in BI when you hit find/inspect and lets see if that gives us a clue.

And for some turning onvif authenticator off in camera seemed to work.

I turned what I believe to be ONVIF auth off in the camera, I'm still getting the same BI ONVIF failed 12029 errors. See below:

BI:

Here's the error I get on the camera when I try to reset the ONVIF password using the admin password I set at initialization:

I'm gonna try reset the camera to factory defaults again today and see if that fixes anything.

While your at it, reset back to factory defaults at least 4-5 times back to back, that sometimes cleans things up and gets it working.
But the friggin Web5.0 is buggy as heck.
Set backup from scratch, don't import any save config files.

+1, did a factory reset a second time and a full power cycle after seems to have brought it back to a known state. Would agree there's def some bugs in Web5.0.

Is Version:3.000.0000000.20.RBuild Date:2022-09-2 from Andy still the best firmware?

He sent me a newer version but I am having a lot of bandwidth issues with it. Recorded video to the SD Card even stutters and drops frames with the Samsung Pro Plus card. I found that it updates bandwidth settings on its own and changes the CBR I set of 8192 to Custom and something in the 3000 range occasionally. I finally got it to stick with 8192 and but its still somewhat jumpy. Time code is still jumping quickly, i.e. going from 12:00:15 to 12:00:20 in a span of 2 seconds rather than 5 seconds for instance so its jumping on footage even downloaded directly from the SD card. Version I am running is 3.120.0000000.2.R Build Date of 2022-10-21.

I have been running that version fine. Are you using Internet Explorer? Not Edge or Chrome with the IE tab?

I am downloading from Edge or Chrome and saving local then playing it. It shows up with the same stuttering as it saves to BI as well. I even installed BI on a separate computer with an i9-9900 and an RTX 2060 and no other camera feeds. Removed the camera from the network and connected directly to the PC and recorded from it and received the same results. It is slightly better on the standalone PC and doesn't happen as regularly but was still happening. It may not happen as often because I found the Web UI 5 had saved the bitrate to 3188 or something like that instead of 8192 around the same time though so it may look the same as when connected to the standalone computer now though. The 5842 sitting right next to it has buttery smooth video even with the same 15fps and 8192 frame rate with no issues at all. I’m not expecting something unrealistic, I just wanted to make sure I put it in perspective.

Somewhere in this thread or the other thread about this camera it is recommended by @Wildcat_1, that took this firmware thru its paces, to use IE even if it "works" on Edge or Chrome.

Also make sure you are not using any codec. Plain H264 or H265 at 15FPS and 15 frames. It works fine on my 4th gen CPU in BI and in the GUI.

Maybe I’ll do a few factory resets and try again.

That has certainly solved issues with some folks as well! Just make sure to then not upload the config file and set it up from scratch.

Yes as @wittaj stated, try the recommended approach I shared before and see where that gets you. On The IE front, I am also doing some tests with Win 11 (VM based) running compatibility modes on a number of cams to see if that can get people there without having the overhead of IE etc while Dahua continue to refine the GUI which still needs work under different browsers. As I mentioned before and Wittaj points out, I would always use HEAVY quotes around people stating """""""WORKS""""""" in other browsers especially with Edge since while the onscreen application of a setting may look good, the final result is less than that and often times does NOT lead to settings or features (even upgrades) working as expected. HTH

Just did factory reset. Set IP, password, turned off P2P, set internal time server, enabled Motion Detection and SMD, enabled audio, set frame rate and interval to 15/15 bitrate to 8192, sub stream to 15/15 bitrate to 512, remove alarm and snapshot so its only recording video to SD Card, formatted SD Card, turned off illuminator since its setup in my home office looking out a window currently, enabled WDR at setting of 5. I will update everyone as to the results. I did find that running Edge in IE mode seemed to work ok since I don't have any computers in that network that can actually run IE anymore. It was definitely more responsive and less buggy than regular Edge or Chrome was.

Not sure the latest one is ready for general use yet. I imagine if he thought it was he’d probably update it here.
