Its cute but that is a low voltage i5 that benchmarks at about 3300....so its not good for more than a couple of cams. You would also network or some sort of external drive. There is an additional cost for the OS. Way too pricey for what it is...

I have an old i3-540, maybe 10% slower than that and I had as many as 6 cameras on BI, direct to disc recording, maybe 50-60% CPU workload.

Direct to disk is the key, I dunno why anyone does anything else. Is the blue iris OSD really that pretty? you're wasting A LOT of CPU re-encoding the video just to add the blue iris OSD. Unless you're adding some interesting weather info or something I think it's pointless.

The NUCs work great when you need low power consumption, silent operation, and a smal form factor. They're great for a HTPC, or for attaching to the back of a monitor, but you do pay a premium for these features, and the features aren't ones that I would put at the top of the list when I was buying/building a Blue Iris server. After you add the memory, storage, and operating system costs, you'll find that you can put together a better Blue Iris system for less money.

Direct to disc does not work for every camera, so some people can't do it. Also, it buys different people different savings, for me, took me from about 80% to 60%. Also, can't use the nifty weather overlay.
