Hi All,

Hoping someone might be able to help.

I have some IPC-D120 dome cameras; new, inexpensive, and all functional, but all running 2017 firmware, requiring IE11, or Edge running in IE11 compatibility mode, along with the applet required for the web interface. The firmware is unlikely to be secure, at 5 years old, and IE definitely isn't, so I would like to get the most recent firmware available for that platform. I am hoping the last/most recent firmware revision for these addresses some of the security flaws, and gets rid of the dependecy on IE11 (or Edge compatibility mode) for web admin.

I have now tried every HikVision official download page I can find, and every IPC-D120 package I can find, and all return the 'failed to get the upgrade status' error message on the web interface. At a guess, I assume that means I've got the wrong firmware. In all cases, I unzipped the downloaded file into D:\Temp and got the expected digicap.sav firmware binary, which I then attempted to upload, while logged in as admin, via the Maintenance / Upgrade / Firmware - Browse/Upgrade process.

Sample camera serial # is: IPC-D12020171030AAWR118638738

Running firmware: V5.4.6 build 170629

I see some other models of camera needed to go via 1 (or more) intermediate version(s) prior to getting to the most current release.

Does anyone have any pointers for this specific model, please ?

Really appreciate any guidance.

Nick

all return the 'failed to get the upgrade status'
That seems to be a common problem with the HiWatch series via the web GUI.
I've had that when 'forcing' an update works OK with the same firmware, but there's a bricking risk so I'd not recommend it.
There is a wide, poorly documented variety of firmware for the HiWatch series.

Did you try the firmware from here (the IPC E4) :
