Good morning,

I live in a rural/remote area and need a camera with SD storage that I can playbacK remotely. I’ll be installing it on a telephone pole so, ptz would be nice but not a must. My main concern is monitoring my drive way (300 yards) that’s a choke point for any traffic. The telephone pole is at the end of the driveway before it makes a 90° turn. I will have cat5e ran to the pole. Any suggestions are welcome.

Who owns the pole you're planning on mounting the camera on and running CAT cable to?

The orange line is about how my driveway runs. The blue line would be a direct line of sight down my driveway from the light pole to the state road. I have problems with people trespassing (hunters, kids tearing up the field). Ideally I’d like to identify. HOWEVER, I’ll settle for being able to make out make and model of the vehicle. I’ve got cheap cameras with a dvr that record around the house. I’d like something with an SD POE that I could playback and view live. Thank you again.

Yeah you will need one of the PTZs I linked but even then it might be a stretch.

NOW, not that I live in a bad area… but, how vandal resistant are they? How are the companies to work with should one get damaged? Wittaj, you’re awesome!

They are fairly resistant, but if someone is intent on damaging, they can do it.

You would want to put the PTZ up as high as possible to prevent/deter it as well as a PTZ is better higher, especially at the distance you are going for.

None of the resellers will replace for a vandalized unit. You would have to go to an authorized dealer/installer that would likely charge you 5-6 times what it is worth in order to get that kind of protection, but even then if they offered that, it would be limited to 1 or 2 units over say a 5 year period.

That’s exactly what I wanted to know. I worry it may catch a round. That’s worse case though. Is Amazon the best place to buy? I checked a few and Amazon looks good.

If your going to pull 1 cable pull 2.
it's considered best practice in the industry.
Then put a 5241-z12e under the PTZ and double your chances of a plate capture.
One camera can catch a description
the other will catch plates all day/night long

Yeah, a trusted vendor here is @EMPIRETECANDY where you can purchase from his Amazon store, AliExpress store, or a direct DM.

Can you find cheaper PTZs out there - of course, but for the distance and lack of light, you need a more professional PTZ than a consumer grade PTZ.

@wittaj to the X of the orange and blue line crossing looks to be about 5-6 blues houses wide. so whatever the width of the blue building is....it would fit roughly 6 times across the Ag field to the road...yes? Maybe more like 150-200 feet?

It’s right at 100 yards to the intersection in front of the old house. It’s at least 300 yards down the road past that old house. I can see straight down the road to the state road. Once they’re on my road, the only place to turn around is on my property. I think wittaj has got me straight. 23EFD72F-A341-4C28-A90F-600463D3C166.png
