PFB203W Bracket Waterproof?

Hey guys,

I am installing a new camera (IPC-T54IR-ZE) on the side of my house looking down the side yard and was planning on using the PFB203W.
Where I would be installing it is actually on the exterior side of my garage wall so I'm planning on drilling a hole through the cinderblock and running cat6 directly in to the back of this bracket.

The Amazon listing says water-proof but upon receiving it it seems like there is no grommet or anything preventing water from entering in-between the camera and where the camera wires go in to the housing:

I will obviously follow all the steps to properly weatherproof the connections inside the housing but am still concerned about water finding its way in to the hole (and bugs as well?) and then overtime accumulating in the housing.
There was another post regarding this years ago but it was more focussed on water getting on the camera lens itself which I know will happen and is not a concern for me: PFB203B bracket rain effectiveness?

Should I use duck seal around this hole and the wires entering the hole? Or am I reading in to this too much and moisture will not really be able to get in?

Any help/guidance on this is greatly appreciated!

I put a inverted U shaped ( "n" ) bead of silicone caulk on the backside of the PFB20x wall mount when brining a cable from within the wall out to the unit. then added one more silicone run up the top and sides of the wall mount after the installation had dried a bit.

Thanks @mat200, that makes sense! That covers the connection of the bracket to the wall, but do I also need to be concerned at all with the big hole in the bracket where the camera wires go in to the housing through the top? Since it seems like that will be pretty much open/exposed to the elements to some extent.

you need the waterproof connection

there is enough space inside the pfb203 bracket.

If you will spray water up into it, yes .. I used Silicone stretch tape around the rj45 cennection after a drop of di-electric gel into the rj45 boot .. can use coax seal also ..

The best idea, IMO, is to waterproof that so-called "waterproof" connector on the pigtail or any Ethernet connection anywhere outdoors, even if the box is under a roof eave or the connection is inside the box. Here's my suggestion for future installs:

• Use dielectric grease on both the male RJ-45 and in the female where it connects.
• Wrap the entire junction with self-fusing rubber tape, don't be stingy, go past barrel connector and on out pigtail a couple of inches on both ends. This self-curing or self-fusing (vulcanizing) process is also employed by Coax Seal, self-sealing mastic pads....many names and labels for the same process.
• Over-wrap all that self-fusing rubber tape TIGHTLY with 3M 33+ or 88 vinyl electrical tape to aid and speed up the curing process but it will remain on.
• When possible, locate camera, its pigtail and junction box with connection out of direct weather. Direct rain and direct UV shorten the life of all devices, even the ones that are rated "for outdoor use."
• Caulk where pigtail enters camera generously with non-gassing, outdoor-rated silicone sealant.

Thanks everyone! Will make extra sure that all the connections are waterproofed inside the bracket. Just wanted to make sure there was no concern with water getting up through that hole into the housing and it sounds like its not really an issue as long as everything else is weatherproofed properly.

Also .. you can use something like Duct Seal once your camera is mounted on any openings to prevent yellow jackets and wasps from looking to make a next in there ..

Sorry for hijacking the thread, where can I get this waterproof cover that fits Dahua cameras?
I lost mine, bought one from AliExpress but it doesn't fit - it doesn't screw into the groves of the female ethernet connector.

Okay cool, that's what I was thinking about using to cover the holes. I learned about that stuff on this forum initially and absolutely love it!

This why I just ended up withe the Silicone stretch tape and electrical tape solution
( coax seal another option )
