Hello. My name is Greg. I'm a new member, old dude, non tech savy, and really need some help with my Lorex Lnr6108x-n. I'm not great on these apps, social sites, or even this phone for that matter. Just want to see if this will post and people can see it.

Ok, thank you. So I bought a Lorex security system a few years back. I think it was lightning, but not positive, that knocked out our hdmi on our receiver. We've been running through rca for a while. I need to replace the receiver, so I was hoping I could get a little newer, more up to date 8 channel to work with my existing cameras, without breaking the bank. Any suggestions on what would work? I have a lnr6108x-n receiver. I can't find my extra cameras to get the model at the moment, but can look at one on the ho

Do you remember the user and password pairs ?
Lorex sold a lot of Dahua oem kits, so can easily usea Dahua oem nvr if you have a dahua oem cameras.
Still to make this easier you will need the user password pairs that you used for the cameras.
Older cameras used to have an easy default password, so sometimes you can try that.
Oh God! No. Well I know my user name and password to access footage from the cameras. Like replay. I'm using the system now. But the feed going to the monitor is running through rca instead of hdmi, and that's what I need to change

That is good. It opens you up to many different NVR replacements.

Yes those are dahua oem cameras ..
Andy sold versions of those iirc
Andy should have a decent Dahua 5xxx series nvr which should work. Remember some nvrs do not have poe ports, so if you need poe ports double check that you are getting a nvr model with them.
Lorex unfortunately charges too much imho for standalone nvrs and cameras.

And, I'm so sorry, who is Andy?, And what Im understanding is, these Dahua components, would be better price wise, than the Lorex name? I hate being lame on a particular subject.

Iirc .. if I recall correctly
PoE port .. looks like a big phone jack .. rj45 vs rj11 .. do a quick image search you'll see what I mean.
Andy .. empiretecandy here, one of the preferred vendors on the ipcamtalk website. Many of us have sourced Dahua international models of cameras and nvrs from him at better value and selection than many other vendors.
Lorex over charges ..with the exception of the black friday season when you often can find deals on systems .. still I do not recall deals on individual nvrs from them.
Oh, ok. I've always called them ethernet ports. Yeah I have to have those for sure. I just ran all new cat 6 cable through the house.

Yes .. ethernet .. POE = Power Over Ethernet .. so the nvr has ethernet ports which also provide power

usually, ( with Dahua and Amcrest NVR's ) and hopefully Lorex, the User/Password for the NVR is applied to the New cameras when you setup the whole works.
So keep that somewhere to access the Lorex Cams in the new system ( maybe)(hopefully)
There is a menu in the NVR's to let it search for devices, it will report back with a list. If you want to add 1, you will likely need to use the OLD User/Pass combo to allow the cam in the new system.
