Hello!

I bought a Hikvision NVR off Ali Express about 9 years ago. I've recently purchased some newer Hikvision cameras, but I am having trouble adding them to the NVR.

NVR - Hikvision DS-7616-E2 / 8P - Firmware V3.3.2 build 150522 - Encoding Version V5.0 build 150507

New Cameras - DS-2CD1383G2-LIU(F)

New Camera - DS-2CD2085G1-l (I was able to add this one, no problem)

I was able to use SADP tool to give IP addresses to the cameras and activate them with a password. The NVR does not automatically detect them, so I added them manually by the IP address that I assigned, but the NVR is unable to connect to the new cameras. I am able to connect to the cameras with my laptop.

Any ideas? Is the NVR firmware too old for the new cameras?

I have tried searching, and I find a lot of information about China version and English versions, different firmware versions and capabilites, etc... but I get lost with all of the different versions and different configurations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Both cameras you quoted are 8MP models - the E-series NVRs do not support that resolution, you'd need a newer NVR model for them.

Also - it's likely that the NVR would complain of a 'language mismatch' when adding EN cameras as the DS-7616N-E2/8P (If that's the correct model, ie not DS-7616NI-E2/8P) is a Chinese region model, unless it's still running hacked firmware that the original seller installed to get round that Hikvision language check.

Also - I've just remembered - the E-series NVRs don't support the h.265 codec, just h.264.
So worth checking the camera web GUI to see if h.265 is enabled by default.

Thanks! Good idea! I checked, they are set to H.264. I'm surprised that the 8MP DS-2CD2085G1-l works, but the DS-2CD1383G2-LIU(F) doesn't work.

Does anyone know if I get a new Hikvision 4K NVR, will the old cameras work (Backward compatible)?
