Am I the only one that thinks the progression of camera technology for CCTV purposes has slowed down a bit or is it just the economy and growing uncertainty in the technology sector? It seems like AI is getting all the rave nowadays.
Bingo, we have a winner!I see the market going to get flooded with JUNK cameras . . .
And it doesn't have animal detection. The 3449 Pro is very close to being a good camera. No ghosting issues, all of the light functions are customizable, it just has some sensor noise that you can really only see on a real computer monitor. But it’s manageable
Sorry Ubiquiti, but your cameras (2025 Gen 6) are still junk. Do what you want, but incorporating lackluster sensors will not gain any attraction from ipcamtalk users, lol.Bingo, we have a winner!
And half of them are large enough to tip over an ocean liner and sink it.![]()
Yes, Dahua is introducing them, but they cannot be authorized for sale in the US unless and until they resolve the FCC restrictions.Dahua in the past 6 months has introduced a buttload of new models
Dahua in the past 6 months has introduced a buttload of new models. To @Arjun 's point they, like most all others, are focused on AI, Active Defense, wireless, consumer models, and other features vs improving their newly introduced SOC or bigger sensors. I have seen no difference in the pace of new models over the past 7-8 years or so.
Andy showed off some new 20225 models a few weeks back slated for Q2/Q3 and of course everyone wants them today
You Got that right. I think the resellers are also being jacked off buy the Distributors so they have to pass it along. I'm so glad I hung my installer hat a few years ago. You say security!!! I'm still doing limited IT consulting and at every turn of the corner I'm patching something playing catch up. If buying brand name stuff like Fortinet, Cisco and Sonicwall make you sleep better, best you set your alarm clock early. NOTHING is secure.Yep. And too many companies have jumped on the NDAA bandwagon and sell subpar performing cameras and NVRs at a premium price all under the disguise of being secure, which they are not.
Where?
In 2024 the only "major" release were TIOC-PRO / WizColor line..
there were a few low volume speciality new cams (like triple-sight one or some PTZ+panorama ones) and tons of cheap customer cams with limited / very cut Dahua firmware taken from divorce with ImouLife.
That's all..
Nothing major..
All main lines (WizMind-S 5xx2, FullColor 5xx9, WizMind-X 7xx2, SD4/SD5/SD6 PTZ) didn't have any new releases - only were refreshed in 2024 by getting some new features in firmware upgrades.
In last 2 year Dahua is showing more interest into totally different markets (like monitors / displays / microLed screens) or alarm systems...
ps. waiting for the situation in the US to clear up makes no sense. Especially with today's US policy, Dahua and HIK will never return to this market (even creating in theory independent entities/brands in other countries). Here the ship had already sunk. But the rest of the world is waiting for new products![]()
