Am I the only one that thinks the progression of camera technology for CCTV purposes has slowed down a bit or is it just the economy and growing uncertainty in the technology sector? It seems like AI is getting all the rave nowadays.

Dahua and Hikvision have not been able to get FCC authorizations for some time, which is a factor for those using their products.

We have had no problem getting cameras John. He's asking about new models and features.

Yes, I am talking about new model authorization. Existing cameras should have no problem, it's new models.

Dahua in the past 6 months has introduced a buttload of new models. To @Arjun 's point they, like most all others, are focused on AI, Active Defense, wireless, consumer models, and other features vs improving their newly introduced SOC or bigger sensors. I have seen no difference in the pace of new models over the past 7-8 years or so.

Andy showed off some new 20225 models a few weeks back slated for Q2/Q3 and of course everyone wants them today

I declared this market stagnant 6 years ago.

Perhaps, I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

But it has little if anything to do with FCC authorizations

I see the market going to get flooded with JUNK cameras that have software driven Night as Day that for me has horrible night time video with clear ghosting and just because software can make a dark picture at night a color day time looking picture don't mean it will be able to detect and ID someone because of the blur and ghosting that goes with it lol.. I see so many youtube ads for those because they are NDAA and I personally think my old Dahua 4mp camera has better night video with same sensor size as their camera because my camera isn't trashed with some fake software that changes the picture like that..

The 3449 Pro is very close to being a good camera. No ghosting issues, all of the light functions are customizable, it just has some sensor noise that you can really only see on a real computer monitor. But it’s manageable

Bingo, we have a winner! :thumb:

And half of them are large enough to tip over an ocean liner and sink it.

Yep. And too many companies have jumped on the NDAA bandwagon and sell subpar performing cameras and NVRs at a premium price all under the disguise of being secure, which they are not.

My issue isn't only Secure but my NDAA hardware really feels like I have gone backwards buying paying more and getting less.. I mean really less in some cases.. I know there are some that say China line can't be NDAA and I don't know as I read it there can be and the website says it is, But again issue isn't where it came from but 1 quality and that it functions as expected.. I mean I guess if you have low expectations then they will be just fine or LOL maybe not lol. But I know that some is starting to drive me nuts.. Same company same line NVR and PTZ camera and you can't pick a number for a preset that is out of order on the camera and have it save to that preset in the NVR.. Then to make things worse. Want to make change to your Guard Preset in my case preset 1 doing so in the camera makes a new preset in the NVR under next in line number, don't even update preset 1, So then from camera you delete preset 1 and it removed the other preset number and preset 1 in the NVR isn't working and preset 1 took out preset x and geez what a Fing JOKE.. Rant over lol

On a good note last update I am now getting Ultra Motion events in notices lol As if that matters.. There is more loads more.. But selling them to GOV and other DEPTs because they are NDAA I don't know how the security team don't go crazy.. Flip that and after a week of nightly reboots the PTZ camera starts over with normal motion back on and Ultra off lol.. So then you are getting loads of alerts that normally you wouldn't and after 20 alerts in 10 seconds you know it is broke again lol..

And it doesn't have animal detection.

Sorry Ubiquiti, but your cameras (2025 Gen 6) are still junk. Do what you want, but incorporating lackluster sensors will not gain any attraction from ipcamtalk users, lol.

I own 5 Ubiquiti cameras 2 of which I am selling on the Used Market (G4 Instant Wifi). I am only keeping the G5 PTZ (with gimmicky PTZ auto-tracking), G5 Turret Ultra, G4 Pro Doorbell, and G5 Flex

Where?
In 2024 the only "major" release were TIOC-PRO / WizColor line..
there were a few low volume speciality new cams (like triple-sight one or some PTZ+panorama ones) and tons of cheap customer cams with limited / very cut Dahua firmware taken from divorce with ImouLife.

That's all..
Nothing major..

All main lines (WizMind-S 5xx2, FullColor 5xx9, WizMind-X 7xx2, SD4/SD5/SD6 PTZ) didn't have any new releases - only were refreshed in 2024 by getting some new features in firmware upgrades.

In last 2 year Dahua is showing more interest into totally different markets (like monitors / displays / microLed screens) or alarm systems...

ps. waiting for the situation in the US to clear up makes no sense. Especially with today's US policy, Dahua and HIK will never return to this market (even creating in theory independent entities/brands in other countries). Here the ship had already sunk. But the rest of the world is waiting for new products :)

He didn't say the buttload of new models were worth anything and "tons of cheap customer cams with limited / very cut Dahua firmware taken from divorce with ImouLife." is considered a buttload of new models in the USA :lmao:

You Got that right. I think the resellers are also being jacked off buy the Distributors so they have to pass it along. I'm so glad I hung my installer hat a few years ago. You say security!!! I'm still doing limited IT consulting and at every turn of the corner I'm patching something playing catch up. If buying brand name stuff like Fortinet, Cisco and Sonicwall make you sleep better, best you set your alarm clock early. NOTHING is secure.

Too bad you didn’t read the rest of my post. I’m not disagreeing that they’ve released a lot of junk.
