pretty much any camera works great indoor, and with light.
those unifi cams are kids toys.
yes, the software is nice, but those cams are pretty shitty, especially for the price.

This camera should work just fine with my Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2?

Yes, Same NVR I'm using,
I did have issues with it sending email and put it on an external switch which solved it. There's no reason it shouldnt send email the same as any other/ all my other cameras so I'll switch it back and look for the problem, likely user induced.

If you're doing an apples to apples comparison of Axis cameras to Dahua cameras with the same image sensor size (4K 1/1.2, 4mp 1/1.8, 2mp 2/2.8 etc.) the low light sensitivity is going to be very similar. Where Axis cameras pull ahead in image quality is the image processing. The WDR and the ability for the camera to handle very difficult lighting conditions (direct sunlight, uneven sunlight in a scene, camera inside of a building facing a glass entryway that views a parking lot with bright sun etc.) and still be able to provide a clear image of someone's face is the best I've seen compared to other cameras I've used. In addition, Axis cameras handle night scenes really well regardless if its in full color (as long as you have enough light) or IR. I never have to worry about an overexposed face because of the IR or a powerful LED light. I replaced my Dahua Color 4K-T in my driveway with an Axis P1468-LE. I have a 60 watt LED light in my driveway and I had to do a lot of tuning with the 4K-T to counteract the bright LED light so my face wasn't washed out. The settings in the camera were specific to having my driveway light on, so if the light was off, I wouldn't have an image that I liked. Even with the settings I had, it still wasn't perfect. With the P1468-LE, I barely changed any settings and I have a really good image both day and night. My face was never overexposed and due to the image processing, I was also able to read license plates at night while running in full color (With a vehicle pulling into my driveway traveling at a really slow speed or stopped, it was not setup for LPR). I was not able to do that with my 4K-T.
Axis also offers varifocal bullet and dome 4K cameras with a 1/1.2 image sensor and IR where the Dahua 4K cameras with a 1/1.2 image sensor only come in full color and a fixed lens (except for some of their PTZ's). They also suffer from close focus distance limitations where the Axis cameras don't have that limitation (Unless the newer 4K-T's have changed that but I'm not aware of any new versions).
I've posted day/night video examples of the P1468-LE and Q3538-LVE (front door camera) on other treads. I'll make a thread in the Axis forum soon and post them in one spot so it's easier to find.
I also purchased the Axis Q6315-LE PTZ and a Radar unit that I've been testing and will make a post about soon. However, Axis just announced a refresh of the Q63 PTZ's that will be released Q2 of this year so the Q6315-LE will be replaced with the Q6355-LE (Has the newest SoC with better AI and AV1 video codec).
Axis is also releasing new P32 domes and Q35 domes so my Q3538-LVE will also be replaced with a newer model and a Dual-sensor camera (AXIS P1518-LE) with a 4K 1/1.2 overview camera and a 2mp 1/2.8 camera with optical zoom. Dual-sensor box camera offers wide-angle and close-up views of the same scene

Axis cams have always been great # but it's not a real fair enough comparison when you look at their price vs the price of these empire tech etc.
Definitely not, they have different target markets and Axis cameras (with the good image sensors) are really not practical for the average homeowner due to the enormous cost of each camera.
What kind of improvements are you expecting from the newer Q35 domes that would justify an upgrade?
I'm not sure yet. Axis hasn't posted a spec sheet but so far the two differences are the new models will have the ARTPEC-9 SoC and some models will have a built in mic with audio analytics (stressed voice detection etc.). ARTPEC-9 is supposed to offer better image processing, better AI and support for AV1. AV1 codec is open source and will further reduce the bitrate and storage in addition to what they already save (My Axis cameras use about half the storage of my Dahua cameras).
Fantastic info @smiticans - thanks for posting for all to see. Yea, I was guessing that AXIS probably has more advanced image processing in wide dynamic range images. Low-light is my main interest since I run 7/24 full color - no IR.
BTW, since you are replacing your Q3538-LVE dome, if you want a "good retirement home" for it that all can see, please reach out to me if it is interested in Watching Grass Grow - literally! ;-)
Per the Q3538-LVE spec sheet, it looks like the FOV will work for me ... albeit I'll be at the tele-end, so the aperture closes down a bit ... but nice to see that only goes down to F/2.9. I'm at 1400 zoom on my 5442-S3 and per this thread, that's about 58 degrees horizontal FOV, so within the 103-49 degree range of the Q3538-LVE.
Speaking of that, I saw your excellent comments in the AXIS thread about FOV and focal length ... yes, as you point out, sensor size matters! ;-)

haha I would gladly donate it to you, but it's going to get a new home on the other side of my house. I'm very slowly replacing my Dahua cameras with Axis because I want to switch to Axis Camera Station Pro (ACS Pro) for my VMS. ACS Pro has very limited functionality with 3rd party cameras and I can't get it to work at all with Dahua cameras. I'm currently using Digital Watchdog IPVMS which is pretty good but it lacks some of the features of ACS Pro, such as smart search 2 which allows you to search for people, color of clothing, vehicle, vehicle type and color etc. and also Free Text search etc.
The 4mp version of that camera (Q3536-LVE) has a 29mm variant available at F1.7. The next generation (Q3536 and Q3556) has a 51mm variant but idk the aperture size yet.
