PTZ5A4M-25X Tracking issues - Dahua SD5A425GA-HNR

Yes, your street is too busy may effect the accuracy, too many targets on the road, lol so need more settings on it.
yes 4K , the same firmware as the 4mp, just different resolution on the trackings.

And it has the good 1/1.8 sensor.

But that doesn’t effect the losing track

1- The busier the scene the more this camera struggles with finding the target.
2- With clear open spaces it performs well out to 200-250ft or so, beyond that the complexity of the scene greatly effects its accuracy. If you have open fields/farm, limited 150ft street scene, or just not a lot of clutter, it will be adequate for most needs.
3- Contrast affects are somewhat opposite of what you think as normal for detection and tracking. Less contrast /flatter image seems to improve its accuracy
4- Complex IVS rules seem to be detrimental to its accuracy. My 6D series even my Mini don't seem to reflect this. I run multiple IVS rukles on most of my scenes without problem on fixed and PTZ cameras.

Detection was never really the issue with this cam. Tracking and finding the target, and proper id of target was the problem and continues to be.

this PTZ is using Taurus firmware / SOC...
the same as most old Full Color cams (and 180 degree one).

This SOC was always very underperforming in AI. On All my 180 degree cams IVS don't work as it should.

Ask Andy for 2023 or 2022 firmware for this PTZ. Dahua in 2024 added AcuPick & AutoPatrol to those cams - maybe they broke something due low power SOC.

2022/2023 firmware will have only original AutoTracking 3.0..

Other solution is return this PTZ cam and wait for a new generation.

Dahua in next 12 month WILL REPLACE all main PTZ lines with new series (SD4, SD5, SD6) and new WizTracking (Auto Tracking 4.0) based on new AI... Plus much powerful SOCs with better video processing...

Yep, we're talking now about different FW

They even killed the 1/1.8 sensor on the SD6 series. I'm never going to buy another 1/2.8 sensor 4MP camera

I have the D6AL433XA-HNR which is EOL which is an AWESOME PTZ. I hope it never dies

Here are some of my recent tracks after talking to JMCU and performing Global Config...

Tracking a truck's tail light.

Thinking the F-150 is a person. (It shows it as a blue box in a lot of other captures, as well).

Tracking a bird.

Faster targets tend to track MUCH smoother than slower ones.

Common theme is each of those non-human targets were lit up by AI with the teal/blue bounding box and identified as Human.

The AI on these is a joke. Practically anything that moves is ID’d as human

If you look in some of them, you can see other human boxes placed around other non-human items.

The back of the white SUV across the street, branches in the tree, the fire hydrant (if that clip made it in). It wants really bad for that F-150 to be a person.

Yep, same with mine. Especially trash cans….. that aren’t moving
