Hi I have 8 self installed IP cameras using a Synology NAS . I was able to accomplish this with no prior experience with alot of help from here. I am going to have to exchange my Xfinity router because of connection problems . I did this once many years ago and remember it was really time consuming and frustrating. I was wondering if there is a method or step by step procedure or article link that makers it easier for me because of my lack of experience in this area.I did see from searching here that I need to change the IP adress of the new router to that of the old one? Its kind of confusing ,but I will reread it a few times . I`m wondering if this is the best and easiest way to do this change and how to do it. Or if there is alot more to it. Thanks Thomas

If you were able to do that - and also to arrange that the scope (the pool) of DHCP IP addresses was set to match the old router - then you should not need to go round all wired devices on the LAN and reconfigure their network settings to match the different defaults of the new router.
Reserved DHCP IP addresses would need to be manually copied to the new router.

Also - matching the WiFi SSID and access code on the new router with that used by the old router would mean that WiFi devices would still connect without having to reconfigure their access.
