Sorry for the necro-post ... I have this NVR with firmware version 3.215.0000000.4, Build Date: 2018-01-1.
The page linked to above has firmware version 3.216 with a build date 180605.
Does anyone know if this new version has "plugin free" viewing available?

Hrmm.. I had thought that having more empty soffit/eave space above the camera would help with the cooling but you do bring up an interesting point. Covering the sides it in a another layer of thick plastic maybe detrimental to cooling... though I don't really know.
Where could I be able to...
So I bought a Dahua system for my new home from Andy. Got a mix of starlight turrets, mini domes and that "flying saucer" shaped PTZ mini dome. For the last camera, I deciede to splurge on the very nice looking 25x recessed PTZ dome (SD52C225U-HNI), but I did not realize how big it was! So now...
So where does the camera get installed? On top of / covering the gang box? I guess this would utilize one of those junction box I see listed under the accessories section of the dahua website. Until today I had though dome cameras were just flush mounted to the soffit directly. lol...

Try the Amcrest (rebranded Dahua) IP2M-841EB. Looks like your typical foscam style IP cam with built-in mic and speaker minus the wifi antenna sticking out the back. Its $90 USD from Amazon.com or direct from Amcrest's website...
Cool product. Unfortunately, Amazon Echo's aren't sold here in Canada. We can buy them from the states and they'll still work - except that you'd have to set your home city to somewhere in the US, plus some a few other small quirks I've heard.
Yep, I've got ceiling runs for Ubiquity APs on each...

Thanks @mat200! My (first) post sat around with no replies for two days until you came along. Looks like you the the ball rolling! haha
Thanks for pointing me to that post by giomania. That's a huge info dump - someone (ie. a mod or admin) should copy that post and sticky it in this forum...
Maybe try an Amcrest (rebranded Dahua) wifi indoor IP cam? Its got two way audio with an onboard mic and speaker. It also runs on a USB power adapter (although the actual power cable is a USB to barrel plug cable)

Hi.
I'm in the midst of building a new house and will be installing an IP security camera system in it. At first I figured I'd be using Hikvision. They've got a good reputation for quality/value and they're popular (lots of installers use them; even my workplace has Hikvision cameras...
