Sorry, tookk me a while. I temp hooked up nvr to grab sadp info. see below. still would not ping and show in my router attached devices. ID 009 is the hikvision nvr

Hikvision DS-7616NI-I2/16P Strange, but anything is likely. The NVR was on a UPS with surge protection and my house is on a whole house surge protector. It would be easy to swapout board, but that's probably 90% of whole cost anyway. Strange that NVR IP would show in SADP but not on my router.

Update to this issue. I got in a new NVR, not Hikvision, another brand. I was able to setup almost all my cameras without issues. A little learning curve and some software not as userfriendly as I'd like but it's working. Wonder if it's worth trying to get the Hikvision NVR repaired? Or...

No. It shows up with correct ip address, gateway and subnet. It will not ping however

Reset did not help. NVR ip does show up on sadp. Guess I need to look for a new nvr

Nevermind. I found the reset.

The NVR is no longer showing up on router attached devices page I reset NVR to DHCP and it came up with a weird IP not even close to my network. I reset ip to what it was before. There aren't any lights on NVR port, not sure there are any there, but the switch at the other end does light green...

UPDATE: Took down one of old cams. Reset to default ports on cam. PF as last night and it works. So, I'll start resetting all my other cams one at a time to see if things come back.

New day. New problems. I think it may go beyond ip cams. This am, the cam I set up last night was working on computer using direct ip and in NVR window. All other cams were out on the NVR page. They could not be addressed on computer by direct ip address. All of them pinged, however...

All my other PF IPs were of the format: xxx.xxx.xxx.123 and I set up a port 8xxx so to address that device, I would enter xxx.xxx.xxx.123:8xxx when addressing locally. To address remotely, I would use my dyndns address, xxxxxx.dyndns.org:8xxx all set up like this has worked well.

I have been extensively trained through the network school of hard knocks so what worked in the past has generally worked ..... until now. Well I did what you said and it works. All I can say is thanks very much. I won't try to undo the other things I have set up that work for some reason...
