Ended up ordering another 250 ft roll of monopolize cat6. Same price as a 100ft roll at home depot.

Another Huisun Mini PTZ v1 somewhat dead - 4 months

Nope nothing. Have tried 2 different computers, POE injector, separate power supply, etc. Nothing will connect to it

Dual Hik Turret - questions and 2, 3, or 4 MP?

Del Boy, how do you figure that the 2x4mm will give me 185 degree FOV? I thought the 2mm gave only 90 with the 4mm being around 70 degree FOV. Am I missing something. The 3MP I have now is the 2mm so I was thinking going with another 2mm would give me about 180 degrees but if the 4mm lens...

Dual Hik Turret - questions and 2, 3, or 4 MP?

Thanks Gents. Already have the 3MP and am just adding a second one side-by-side to the existing. So looks like I'll likely be doing the 4MP sitting next to the 3. Should make for a nice panorama shot when I pull both live feeds up side-by-side in the camera viewer software.

Dual Hik Turret - questions and 2, 3, or 4 MP?

Looking at a 2342, 2332, or 2322 in 2.8 to cover my front yard. I already have a 2332 covering my drive and left side of yard and plan on mounting another cam side-by-side to that one pointing to the right. Essentially a dual cam set up with each facing opposite directions to capture a near 180...

    100' Ethernet Cable - Options?

Thanks Tangent. Great idea running underneath the insulation but I'm too lazy for that. Good to know that Cerrowire is decent enough and will hopefully hold up to high temps. No outside exposed wiring in my install...mainly attic until my 3 foot wall drop.

    100' Ethernet Cable - Options?

So I decided to add just one more IP camera to the mix but I only need 50-100' of ethernet cable to complete this project. I previously bought a 250' spool (Monoprice) to wire up the other cameras but what is left isn't enough for this camera. The problem I have now is that no one that I have...

Another Huisun Mini PTZ v1 somewhat dead - 4 months

Well Melissa from Monitech told me to ship the camera back to them for repair. UPS wants to charge $159 for shipping to China. Um yeah, no thanks. Looks like this one will be written off as trash unless someone local wants to try and troubleshoot it for me and get it up and running again...

Another Huisun Mini PTZ v1 somewhat dead - 4 months

It actually died a couple of months ago when the weather was much more reasonable. I mess with it a couple of times a week until the kids drive me crazy or I want to throw it in the trash. The camera saw no direct sunlight as it's under the roof overhang and also on the north side of my home...

Another Huisun Mini PTZ v1 somewhat dead - 4 months

Well I got a few months (about 4) out of it. Still will go through self test but SADP will not detect it any longer. Tried multiple computers, POE injector, separate power supply, various Ethernet cables (5e, 6, etc.)... No matter what I tried nothing seems to be able to communicate with it...

Mini PTZ camera impressions! 2015 PTZ camera of the year? AVOID THIS CAMERA

Yeah I did Hik (well LTS - thanks Milkisbad) turrets (non-PTZ) for front and back doors (2.8mm)...very impressed with the quality but wanted more reach and PTZ to cover my curved front street.

Mini PTZ camera impressions! 2015 PTZ camera of the year? AVOID THIS CAMERA

Its not really that low. Do you have one? I honestly think its quite small but I'm new to the game.

    What Cables (pre-made) to Purchase

Yeah I used something similar but not monoprice. Small sleve, insert wires, cut wires off at the sleeve, insert sleeve and crimp. BTW, didn't have to cut wires at an angle at all. I cut straight across, all cables worked perfect and didn't have to redo any of them.

    What Cables (pre-made) to Purchase

Thanks all. I bought a cheap Trendnet crimper, some quality connectors, and a spool of 250' of Monoprice Cat 6 cable and made all of my own. Turned out to be relatively easy and made 5 runs with it and all work great. It's a bit of a tedious process to get all 8 wires lined up in a tiny...
