I must admit that I'm not sure that ZT needs to be involved while on the same LAN. I was thinking that ZT was policing access to the PC and wouldn't let it through unless it was "ZT authorized". That may not be true while on the same LAN.
I do know, that even when local I use the ZT IP...
I guess I just don't understand how the cloud-based ones work. I was assuming that there must be a video feed coming from the camera that isn't available without internet connection. I was hoping I could intercept the raw signal. Sounds like it can't be done. Thanks for your help!
Is it possible to "intercept" the signal from a cheap IP camera that doesn't support RTSP/ONVIF? I received one for free and as expected, it can't be pulled into BI. I am thinking that there may be a way to connect it to an NVR directly.
Is it possible to cut the ethernet cable, identify...
ZeroTier has worked very well for me. I’m personally not familiar with Tailscale, since my ZT setup has worked so well, but I believe that they are similar upon function.
ZT allows me to use windows Remote Desktop. The combination has worked very well.
thanks for the ngrok suggestion. We are in the process of setting up a Zerotier solution. The site is remote, so we are only there sporadically to work on it!
in the BI Webserver tab, you can select the ZT created adapter. If I remember correctly, once you select the ZT adapter (which has the ZT IP address in the name), it inserts the ZT IP in the external IP field.
I currently a have static IP address for my Blue Iris PC. I will be moving to an ISP who doesn't have a static offering. Do I need to change any settings for Zerotier? I used a No-Ip solution in the past, but haven't for a few years. Do I need to reinstate it for Zerotier to work?
Many thanks for the suggestions and ideas. We will pursue these.
I don't believe that the ISP has IPV6 available. We will work with these suggestions and hopefully have some discussions with the tech support team at the vendor.
Many thanks!
Thanks, I found this before posting my question here. It's provides great direction , and suggests that ZeroTier will resolve the issue when I migrate next week (thankfully). It doesn't seem to directly answer the question as to whether these solutions were specific to CGNAT based networks...
Our area is moving to a fiber solution for internet. I was assisting my brother with his installation and we've run into a problem with remote access to cameras.
The problem seems to be due to the ISP is using CGNAT where you don't have a routable IP address (even with a DDNS provider)...
