Looking for PTZ for security and wildlife

That’s really useful and excellent footage! Thanks very much.

Looking for PTZ for security and wildlife

Thanks, that makes sense. Maybe I should get a fixed (therefore substantially cheaper) camera purely for back garden security now, then maybe add a PTZ for wildlife viewing later. Edit: After a bit more research, it looks like the Dahua IPC-HDW2231R-ZS should be perfect for my back garden...

Looking for PTZ for security and wildlife

Thanks, that's useful. Gonna get a fixed camera ordered now for security, then I'll use this to help me decide on a PTZ for the future.

Looking for PTZ for security and wildlife

Hi, I’m running Blue Iris with 3 cameras (2 fixed PoE external and one internal). I need an additional one to give coverage for the rear of my house, plus I’d like something to help me spot wildlife (mostly nocturnal - foxes & badgers) in our small paddock next to the house. I’m wondering about...

Trying to get voice to camera's speaker working

Sorry for delayed response. For some reason I couldn’t even get the alarm to sound when wired. Not to worry. I think I can live without that functionality.

Trying to get voice to camera's speaker working

Thanks. I was just about to send this reply saying unfortunately there was no sound at all when I tried that. Just before I hit send though, I almost jumped out of my skin because the camera unleashed a pretty loud siren sound! It was at least a minute or two after I'd given up testing the audio...

Trying to get voice to camera's speaker working

Thank you. I get nothing at all for the Dericam option which includes my model, but one of the others Dericam options does at least get me a weird noise from the camera speaker when I hit the mic button, so it feels like it is within reach! I’ll do some more experimentation and email support if...

Trying to get voice to camera's speaker working

I've just added an indoor camera (Dericam 1080P P2 WiFi) to my Blue Iris setup purely for keeping an eye on our dogs. It's equipped with a mic & speaker for two way audio and I'd like to get that working via Blue Iris. All the standard functionality is working a treat, including hearing audio...

    Timeline blank, now "overallocation error"

The DB folder delete & restart fixed both problems. Thanks very much.

    Timeline blank, now "overallocation error"

An update - it seems the time line recording bars reappear if I zoom out sufficiently: ...but then disappear again when I zoom in beyond a certain point: Seems like a bug to me, or am I misunderstanding something about the interface? I'm still getting the overallocation error.

    Timeline blank, now "overallocation error"

I've just checked my BI PC for the first time in a few days and something seems to have gone wrong. I have two cameras recording continuously to a 2TB drive, but my timeline looks completely blank! A check of the "New" folder shows files are still being written, and there is plenty of space...

Saving a little power by writing to SSD first?

Thanks for that - an interesting read. I got tied up with work this weekend, but I think I'm going to give this a go.

    Hi from the UK

Hi all, I've already posted a couple of times, so thought I should introduce myself. I'm in the UK and first set-up Blue Iris with just one camera a few years ago, to keep an eye on our heating oil tank after we had some oil stolen. BI was running on a modest 2 core Windows Home Server box...

Saving a little power by writing to SSD first?

Hi, My new set-up storage-wise consists of a 128GB SSD and a 2TB WD Purple HDD, and currently 2 cameras (about 6MP in total) recording continuously. I've read on here (and it seems logical), that there's no performance gain in writing video to the SSD first, so I just used that for system disk...

Timeline only showing last few hours of recorded video

Thanks. Things have improved overnight without me doing anything. I've just got up (UK) and it appeared to have found some more recordings by itself: I've just done a repair and that didn't bring any extra video footage in but did create a gap: This may well be legitimate from when I was...
