Hey folks,
Just wondering, which Costco home security cam package is recommended that come closest to match some dahua starlight type cams?

Just doing some general shopping for a buddy who needs a cam solution quickly.

Thanks

Welcome xmfan,

There really is no Dahua OEM 2MP starlights readily available for Costco.

Consumers like to count mega pixels - and want to chit-chat talk to intruders...

The closest to Dahua OEM firmware I have seen is the Q-see kits.

In fact - there is a deal on a Q-see kit at Costco right now - with some IP config / port / user and password adjustments you should be able to augment it with some nice Dahua OEM 2MP starlight cameras and retain the IVS functionality ( Q-see relabels it as IVA ). The kit is currently on sale for $350 and includes 4x 5MP bullet cameras.

There are probably Q-see NVR kits there, that is the current deal worth considering.

I think you would have to order it online - SO, knowing that Andy can ship very quickly if he has inventory - in fact, for the orders I have done with him - he has beat other US based vendors on speed of delivery.

The other Dahua OEM products are some of the Lorex NVR kits - note Lorex strips the IVS features from their products.

@mat200 and @japjoe7 - thank you for your feedback.

For me personally, I previously ordered a couple of Dahua starlights turret cams for installation, currently working on getting them installed. I will be going the PC and Blue Iris path.
My buddy in the east coast was looking for a solution that needs to be installed very quickly. Ideally, he wanted something that is decent enough that he can install now but grow/modify slowly, one piece at a time.

@mat200 - Of all the bundles sold by costo, if Qsee offers the closest to the features of a dahua cam (minus the starlight feature), including IVF then it makes sense to me to go with that brand.

ideally, he wants to be able to eventually remove the NVR and go with PC and Blue Iris. With that, assuming the QSee cams are POEs, he wants to be able to use his existing Ubiquiti network and get 8port POE switch to pwer them up. Once the base system has been installed, in three or so months, he will place an order through Andy and get the Dahua starlights and install those. Last item would be to replace the NVR and go with PC an blue Iris.

Is this a good path to take ?

thanks.

If you are going to buy a costco kit, avoid the qsee bullets, unless your friend enjoys cleaning spider webs nightly. loot at this kit

@fenderman - thanks so much for your feedback and the link to Costco for the Lorex bundle. Definitely a great option to consider. I am looking into and chatting with my buddy, discussing the installation =)
