Trying to remedy the spider situation so I bought a Tendelux 80ft IR Illuminator | AI4. I went into the blue iris software PTZ controls and turned off the cameras built in IR light then plugged in the Tendelux light and the camera did not see the light. If I pointed the light directly at the camera, it looked like a white flashlight light. I originally bought a kit from LAView and stopped using the NVR that came with the kit and started using BI instead. The camera I was using was a LV-PB3040w. Any help on what Im doing wrong would be appreciated.

  • Do you know the Tendelux's rated wavelength?
  • Do you have another camera that "sees" the same results from it?
  • What happens to the cam's view of the IR when you completely cover/uncover the IR illuminator's photocell with your finger?
  • Do you have another appropriate 12VDC adapter you can try in the Tendelux?
EDIT: what's the make & model of the cam?

theres a chance that by disabling the cameras IR lights, this only stops the IR cut filter from being removed from the lens. the cameras lights will stay on, however, the software just prevents the camera from seeing IR light. Basically, instead of turning off the lights, the camera just makes the light invisible, therefore also making the external illuminator invisible too.

Blue Iris doesn't disable the cameras IR it puts it into day mode. You need to log into the camera interface set the mode to auto (or hold the IR button in BI until a green A appears) and then disable IR from the CAMERAS own web interface

I logged into the camera itself and the only option I found was to switch it from Day - Night - Auto. When the camera is in night mode it does see the aux IR light. When it is in day mode, the internal IR turns off and it does not see the aux IR light.
The camera model is a LV-PB3040w which came as a package deal from LAView security. Is it possible to figure out what the camera really is and flash the bios? Would a different bios have the option to just disable the internal IR while still allowing the camera to go into night mode? Or am I about to be stuck buying all new cameras?

There is an option for ir toggle. Its hidden in a service menu exact location varies by firmware.

Is service menu something different than just using the cameras IP address? I have gone thru the menu several times and found nothing other than the day/night switch. Also I notice when logging into the camera, it still displays LAView logo even though Im now using Blue Iris. Makes me think they have created their own firmware and that may be whats made the IR switch disappear, so is it possible to find just the actual camera manufacture firmware and load that and get my IR switch back?
