Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

haven't you been here long enough to know not to update for sake of updating lol.

But I think @bigredfish is referring to the new GUI (white/blue) versus the old gui (black/gold).

If you had firmware from 2021, I think that would be the old GUI? And if so that would be fine.
Yeah the newest FW for the 4K-X appears to be from Dec of 2023 from Andy’s site. And, yes, both the old ‘21 fw and the newest ‘23 fw are still running on the old GUI.

The bullet never has been updated to the new GUI

That said the 2023 FW is the one giving me trouble

Well I’m going to hang the thing tomorrow on a pole. I guess I’ll see how it looks soon.

Well the 4K-x is up on the pole and looks great!

Granted it’s up 30+ feet and my driveway entrance is nearly 200 feet away so there are no DoF issues here at these distances. Also running a Z12 for LPR and a PTZ5A4M-25X for auto tracking vehicles/persons in the lot only at night after we are closed. I think I’ve covered most of everything I can with these three cams on the parking lot.

I’m pretty impressed with the 4K-x at night so far. It’s noticeable brighter than the PTZ cam. This intersection has tons of light and I’m also blasting light from various sources mounted on my sign and light poles.

Once you get a chance, can we get a couple video clips- movement far and movment near?

I find out past say 60ft mine does great. Inside of 35 its a noisy mess with movement. And I'm having to run Backlight to tame the twinkles in the sky. But with as much light as you have there it may not matter.

No one has entered the lot and came all the way to the pole yet. Just turn around stuff near the entrance.

Should have the garbage truck coming tonight to empty the dumpster around midnight. It will have to come all the way to the pole so I’ll get that footage in the morning and post and it and see what it looks like.

Here ya go. The bum walking was unfortunate for me. My auto tracking on the PTZ stops at 4am and he came across the lot just after. He kept looking back pretty suspiciously too. I need to extend the auto tracking to later.

FYI, running VBR at best quality (6) at max bit rate (8192) at 15 fps on h.264. I frame at 15. Exposure is shutter priority 0 - 6ms. No illuminator or backlighting.

Thanks!. Looks much like @CanCuba 's scene, very well lit, high up. Two things I dont have :(

My biggest problem is the close in 25-30ft shot.
Here's an example. Note the street light is from 1960 and the equivalent of a 150 watt light bulb

The Newer camera running the latest Andy FW (which It wont let me upload any other FW to.. :idk: )
LEDs at 50%, 16,384, CBR, Exp 0-6ms Gain 60

And an older 1st gen FW version Same settings as above except 0-5ms

Yup. Yours is noisier. It may be distance. My fov is so much further away than yours maybe we just can’t see it as well? Your images even look a tad bit more washed out than mine.

I’m interested to see if shutter priority would make a difference.

I'm pleased with the old original FW version. Its the new one that is noisy as hell.

Yes the close in one is washed out because as I drop the light level, I get rolling shutter bands at anything under 1/120 or 0-8.33 and then I'm faced with motion blur

More examples. Shutter Prio didnt fix it.

I think ts two things
1- Close in- while the 3.6mm is known for soft focus out to about 8ft-10ft, this is beyond that about 15-20ft. But still closer in shots seem to be a problem without a shit ton of light.
Its looking like a movement thing
2- Shutter obviously. I'm running 0-7 have also tried fixed 1/120. Anything faster I get severe rolling shutter

Gonna try to cut DNR back as far as possible (was 40)

Here's a clue. Very slight movement on left image and the noise is beginning to be visible.(dirty looking near passenger door)
On the right he's dead stopped. No noise

Yeah. I don't get any of that but my FOV is so much wider being 30'+ feet in the air. I also wonder if you simply got a bad camera?

It's a shame this and the -T version of this camera is still plagued with problem for distances under 10'. Their ability to gather light is amazing.
