LaView NVR Hikvision firmware?

I purchased Laview kit: LV-KN988P84A4 (8 Channel POE NVR and 4 2MP IP cams).

I've been reading reviews from Amazon/Newegg and posts here where people are asking about flashing official hikvision firmware back to the LaView NVR and cameras.

Through the searching, I can't find anyone confirming exactly what hikvision firmware they flashed on their laview devices.

Can anyone confirm the correct hikvision model/firmware for these two devices?

NVR (Possible Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P)
Model: LV-N9808C8E
FW version: V3.3.1 build 150928
Encoding: V5.0 build 150415
Web: V4.0.1 build 150528
Plug-in: V3.0.5.38

Camera (possible Hikvision DS-2CD2022WD)
Model LV-PB932F4
Firmware version: V5.2.0 build 140913
Encoding version: V1.0 build 140714

Any help or confirmations is greatly appreciated.

Hi Fenderman,

The main reasons are Laview have dumbed down these cameras/NVR (removed access to features) and the LaView apps/interfaces are awful (I would much rather use iVMS-4500).

I have already added two DS-2CD2732F-IS domes to the system and when you login to the hikvisions vs the laview cameras, it's obvious the laview firmware is just dumbed down version with less options compared tot he hiks. I am using these options on the hiks and would like to get them on the Laviews if possible.

I am also hoping that if I can put hik version firmware on the NVR, I will gain the virtual host option in the NVR (and free up an ethernet port on the NVR).

I don't mind trying things out myself if I know I can recover from a bad flash...
I have updated NVR firmware from Laview that is marginally better than what was shipped (but nothing for the cameras).
How hard is it to brick these types of devices?

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction or help confirm if I can get hik firmware back on these devices.
Any info on the process (how to backup firmwares, recommend to flash through the web UI or some other means, or third party tools that might be essential) is some other info I'm interested in.

Thanks in advance.

I'm able to telnet into the camera but not the NVR.

Does any of this info help confirm camera model?

Bump,
Here is the CPU info. Starting to wonder if these are hikvision cams.

I see trendnet uses these CPUs in their cameras.

Any help/feedback is appreciated.

Whilst I can't claim exhaustive knowledge of cpuinfo for many Hikvision cameras - that does not look like any of the 2xx2 or 3xx5 series that I have seen.
The clockspeed suggests quite old hardware.
But the 'prtHardInfo' command is characteristic of Hikvision cameras, I don't think it's a generic busybox command.
I know that's not very helpful, sorry.

Thanks Alastair!

I don't have the firmware for the Camera's so I'm less likely to mess with them if we can't confirm what brand and model they are.

Any thoughts on the NVR?
I would love the virtual host option so I don't consume a port so I can access the cameras directly.

Thanks again!

I ordered two DS-2CD2032F-I and they arrived today. The packaging of these bullets and included hardware are identical to the laview cameras that came with the kit. The only difference is the shape of the camera housing. The hikvisions are round/cylindrical and the laviews have a slight triangle/oblong shape to them.

I attached pics of the NVR to see if anyone can recommend if and what model hikvision NVR it is?
Are there any other markings on the NVR that can help confirm? I can't Telnet into it (it doesn't have that option) but is there something on the board that I could use as an identifier?

Any advice on if either of these resemble hikvision devices and what model firmware might work is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have the same exact system.

I can only confirm that camera LV-PB932F4 is HK DS-2CD2020-I from the command output "showStatus" by connecting to the camera directly and enabling the SSH service.

For detailed de-brick instructions, please go to: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-3408.html

As far as I can tell, the firmware update can be very tricky. You will need to use TFTP server from HK, set your own PC IP to 192.0.0.128 and run it with the firmware in the TFTP server folder. It can take a long time, and a few people got their devices bricked.... The main problem with LaVIEW is that we don't have any official firmware to fall back unlike HK.

Good luck and please post your findings!!!

Thank you for the reply ppp2003.
Are you going to attempt to flash your cams?

Any ideas on the NVR?

Would really like to get hikvision firmware on there to see if I can get the virtual host option so I can dial into the camera's without using a camera port on the back of the NVR.

I have updated my firmware for the cams, and it's an one way street. Once you updated to HK firmware, you can't go back to LaView firmware any more.

Right now, LV posted v5.3 firmware for cams too:

http://www.laviewsecurity.com/cms/download/

About NVR, I just flashed it with LV one from the above link. I don't know what the virtual host option is. Probably the new firmware from LV gives you the option.

Under the NVR config, Network/Advanced Settings / Other. This will allow you to connect directly to the camera using the NVR's ip with a specific port for each camera ( usually 65001, 65002, etc).
Mostly needed if you segregate your IP cams on a different subnet directly connected to the NVR.
