Aside from the video, it's nasty IMO that whoever posted it wouldn't give an approximate location. Even if really Transylvania they ought to say so.

I've always said that newbie engineers should always be made to work as a mechanic their first year out of school. And the asshole engineers who designed the crap should be forced to do repairs on their shitty designs for at least a couple of years.

PERHAPS if that was an easily accessible filter compartment-- they would sell a shit-ton of heavily over-priced and over-hyped in-cabin air filters. Their shit design is actually COSTING them a revenue stream.

One organization I worked for required everybody in every job description to work the customer support telephone line occasionally. As an engineer in the early days of PCs, it was emotional hell. For fixing "my computer doesn't work", it got down to: Is it plugged in? Did you turn it on? Is the monitor plugged in?, and on and on with the list of stupid things. I do these stupid things, too. Still do, but having to walk other people through them was torture.

I recall a story I heard over the radio. Customer support person was talking about time a lady called in to complain that her new computer would not turn on. She tried everything apparently including the "foot pedal". Yes, the lady thought the corded mouse was a foot pedal and she had placed it on the floor and was pushing the buttons with her foot.

So in my Tech days had a call from a lady that said her modem was not turning on/working. I noticed the sound of cars in the background, I asked her if she was calling from a payphone, she said yes she was across the street, when I asked her why she said their building did not have any power...Wow

Had one company I worked for that we had such a problem with people bringing their own software from home, like screen savers back then that I had my desktop guys open every computer and remove the data/power cable from the floppy drives to stop all the viruses we were getting along with those screen savers that always caused problems/tech calls. We would uninstall them to find them back installed the next week :) Of course then we would get calls the floppy drives would not work, lol

One more, had a lady complain about her cursor stopping, we had a desktop guy go check it out. She said the cursor would only go so far, found out she would get to the bottom of the mouse pad and stop, we had her lift her mouse up and put it at the top of her pad :)

I have a hundred of stories like this in all my years as a PC Tech.

I had a client I had just fixed all of the above problems. She got home and
plugged it in and guess what, the key board would not work! As above I went through
the stupid crap above to no avail. I even asked if the keyboard was plugged in.
She said to me "Do you think I am stupid. I know where it plugs in".

I went on one of those "late night" service calls. Yup, sure enough, it did not work.
Di you know the old keyboards would fit the BNC plug for a network fits a keyboard too?!!!
An 1 hour drive each way.

A long time ago I read a story about an Apple support tech who had a similar experience... he spent an hour on the phone with a woman regarding a Mac only to find out there was a blackout in the building...

When he realized this, he told the woman the computer would not work, and she should put it back in the box and return it to the store she bought it from... she asked why? He replied, "Because you are too f***'in stupid to own a computer!" :)
