    Axis maturity with Hikvision pricing?

...strange, something that doesn't quite work as expected. My latest Axis camera is the M3046. Important features for my setup: format: dome Resolution: 4MP or higher recording: to SMB shares in H264 (or nicer H265) smart motion detection that doesn't record moving trees/bushes and is not...

    DS-7708NI-I4/8P Reboot Loop (Hikvision)

...connected to the network, normally I use a desktop CMS app to monitor them. One is a 4mp Hikvision mini PTZ, the other is an Avigilon 2mp fixed dome.... if I go into the menu to configure adding the Hik PTZ then it will connect and show an image for about 3 seconds then the system freezes and...

Dome vs. mini dome (DS-2CD2142FWD-IS vs. DS-2CD2542FWD-IS) / PIR needed for automated surveillance?

I just wanted to chip in with my experience of Hivision mindome (2542) and domes (2142). Yes they both start doing IR glare if the clear dome gets dirty or starts aging, but supposedly they are more resisting to tampering and sometimes it's not immediately obvious where they are oriented...

PTZ choices, best for low light

I really would like that better low light, concerns me that in 2-3 year time that composite (assuming it isn't glass!) lens cover might deteriorate. It was a bit cheeky of them to remove auto tracking from the 49225, especially for existing owners if they got caught by firmware upgrade removal...

PTZ choices, best for low light

...the mini-PTZ and it is no comparison the 49225 is better. I wouldn't be concerned with the mini-curve of the lens. It isn't like it is a dome. The PTZ5A has 4 IR so it will be comparable to the 49225, probably better given the bigger sensor. The only reason you don't see a lot of talk...

PTZ choices, best for low light

...service life and have worked incredibly well. Auto tracking would of course be nice to have but managed without it all this time. Mainly this dome style lens cover just bugs me, having used perspex domes in the past, never again!! why would Dahua feel the need to make a vandal proof PTZ...

Issues with ColorVu DS-2CD2147G2-SU Cameras At Night

Classic Dome problems, never gets old. Whatyou can do is clean as much from insdie and outside, stick additional sponge where current one is that will make dome cover hard to place, but push it so the sponge actually touching cover. This way IR wont reflect back to camera itself.

Dahua camera and Imou Life app compatibility

I understand but unfortunately they don't sell any outdoor dome PTZ camera's and Dahua does. And as some webshops advertise Dahua PTZ dome's as Imou Life and Cloud compatible I was simply wondering if anyone has any experience with that combination and what functionalities are available in the...

...a wall or other things from which IR can reflect. Another thing is to correct the rubber band at the lens as mentioned by ludshed. Or just move it inside and use bullet/turret outside, much friendlier casings, dome can be really painful and im using it only when theres a need for IK10 rating.

Dahua camera and Imou Life app compatibility

...In another topic here in relation to firmware we established this as one of the oldest models (16mb ROM). It’s a Dahua outdoor PTZ dome. I managed to link this camera to the Imou app through the Easy4Ip option (also known as P2P I’m told). When adding a camera the app has a separate category...

    Weird case of infrared reflection

...I knocked one off the lens while trying to aim it. I cant say with 100% certainty that I've witnessed a foam/rubber ring on every non-ptz dome cam I've worked with. Any thin packing foam sheets around the house for a DIY IR seal? Would not have to be pretty (at first) to test the theory...

    Weird case of infrared reflection

It's been a while since I took one of these apart but is there no foam ring built into the dome either?

    Weird case of infrared reflection

I think I do not see a foam ring, maybe it is missing. I have a new picture in attachment. Should there be a foam ring and is it present on the picture?
  14. S

    Weird case of infrared reflection

Another item to look for... dome cameras typically have a foam-like ring around the outside of the lens. You should be able to move the ring (careful not to move the lens, too). When the dome is on, the foam ring should press against the inside of the dome to isolate the IR interior reflection...

    Weird case of infrared reflection

Gonna be tiny dust motes on the inside of the dome. You'd have to take it down, take the dome off, and clean it with a lint free cloth.

    Weird case of infrared reflection

You are writing "dust in the dome". But where exactly should I found that, I do not see any dust?
  17. biggen

    Weird case of infrared reflection

It’s dust/junk in the dome. I used to have those cameras years ago. Switched them all out for Dahua 5442s.

Issues with ColorVu DS-2CD2147G2-SU Cameras At Night

Hi Just installed these, they look great during the day but at night they're a smeary / foggy mess. The dome is all clean, and it looks like the IR LED's are reflecting back off the inside of the dome - any ideas on best image parameters to improve the picture quality? Thanks in advance :D

    Junction Boxes, Required or not?

This is a very good point and another reason why I use junction boxes even where I don’t strictly need one. That extra 1” or so is enough to lift the camera away from the wall and can alter the overall view you can obtain.

...external mics on these larger ptz cams as noted in prior reviews online due to technical limits on devices, I'll be using them on my turret/dome cams instead, much more luck there. The smaller cam's motor is louder than the larger ptz cam model, so audio is better on the larger model's...
