Totally agree, my head is telling me to get a 2MP with 60mm and heart is saying go with a 5442 at 32mm. Just seems like backwards steps using the older sensor now, things move very quickly in this field. In fact this has encouraged me to get a couple of the other more critical 2MP cameras...

...that's the problem with the 5442, once you use them you don't really want to use anything else. Due to the form factor, I installed a wedge next to the door for ID, I would much rather have a 5442 there and may eventually end up switching it out when I have nothing else to do, but it's not...

Bought 3 of these from Andy this morning to replace my old 1080P wedge cams.

I should note that I'm using the wedge, because the Doorbell Camera is centered on the door, and the doorknob is on the side. Seems to work pretty well.

back in the day many would use that wedge cam from dahua. super small, but not sure about the audio.

Do like I did, get a longer screw for the top screw and put a temporary wedge (carpenter pencil) in-between the wall and the mount then you will know what degrees you need. I remember putting as many a 2 carpenter pencils. You can take one of the screws with you to Home Depot to find a longer one.

...as positions to place the cameras .. if the siding is vinyl you can run the cables under the siding without too many issues iirc .. the cameras by the door I would place at face level looking straight at people who would walk up to the door .. I like the mini-dome wedge style for these cameras

I like the dahua mini dome wedge in 2.8mm at face level by the front door and another camera watching over the area that also captures the package drop area

I have an older 4231 wedge camera that was doing that frequently, and it was because I was rotating the image 90 degrees in Blue Iris, instead of in the camera's web UI. Disabled BI rotation, enabled camera rotation, problem disappeared.

So i do like the mini dome wedge model of cameras .. I have a 2mp 1/2.7" version .. I prefer it at basically face level on the side of the door that opens .. In terms of mounting cameras directly on the walls .. depends IMHO if you have the ability to push the pig tail into a wall cavity ...
