PTZ choices, best for low light

Interesting, Andy offered a 4MP version of that but technically the 2MP version is basically a 49225 with auto tracking. I do like the idea of 'Cops' theme accompanied by reds and blues for some passing residents :thumb:

PTZ choices, best for low light

You could always see if you can get your hands on this one that is the 2MP on 1/2.8" sensor and the "replacement" for the 49225, but also included TIOC and white light in addition to infrared. https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/All-Products/PTZ-Cameras/WizSense-Series/SD4/SD4E225GB-HNR-A-PV1

PTZ choices, best for low light

OK, I had decided to bite the bullet and get a PTZ5A4M-25X but two things are giving me cause for concern, firstly the curved composite (Perspex?) lens cover and secondly the build quality, in comparison to the 49225 series. The price difference cannot be ignored either but the lack of flat lens...

New to the world of LPR ... need some help

Thank you for all the help! Coming from a Nest cam background it’s a little different here. I have used IP cams in the past too (Foscam) but that was years ago. I found this NVR for cheap , but not sure if it’s any good for the camera in question that Flintsone suggested ...

CodeProject.ai with License Plate Reader module - HowTo?

That is very granular, even the year?!?! I have photos of vehicles, thousands of them every day. I was hoping to produce a model based off my photos, since I always have the same angles and essentially the same type of vehicles (there are no Bentley cars around here). Most of them I have the...

    Need help picking new cams

And that's the model version I could find 2 weeks ago when I set everything up. It is not listed, so I picked the closest version: IPC-HDBW2231R-ZAS That was working until it stopped recording. What now..?

    Need help picking new cams

Are you port forwarding to the outside world? The camera didnt stop recording, Synology stopped recording. I dont know why but it sounds like something got overloaded with requests, and the camera doesnt make those requests, so... I think thats a 2MP bullet IPC-B22IR-ZAS S3 Probably this one...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Indeed the Z12E produces some good images and has the benefit of additional zoom, sometimes there will be no substitute for this. The attraction to the 1/1.8" sensor at 4MP is night time performance, with the bonus of some potential detail during daylight. The 2MP sensor cameras I own including...

PTZ choices, best for low light

Very true that the 49225 does not have auto track. Yes, that comparison looks similar to my experience with the 5442 series!

Dahua Active Deterrence Camera to scare off deer?

The red and blue light won't scare them off. And the AI is such that it will mainly only detect for person or car. What does work is the "you are under surveillance" that you can get the 4K/X or the 180 to play, or any of the cameras that have a speaker. Let me see if I can find a video of it...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Unfortunately that's the problem with the 5442, once you use them you don't really want to use anything else. Due to the form factor, I installed a wedge next to the door for ID, I would much rather have a 5442 there and may eventually end up switching it out when I have nothing else to do, but...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

I have found that the more I use PTZ cameras, the more I wish all of my others were PTZ, of course they are bulky and expensive so not ideal. I do have some which have no need to move around, others I sometimes find myself going for the controls only to find there are none :) Side note, there...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

I want one bad and have a place for it, but it is overkill for my coverage area. If only that 4x4 had a fixed wide lens of 3.6mm it would be perfect. 8mm will overshoot my primary choke point The next model a step down would be ideal BUT they reduced the sensor size No IVS on the 2nd channel...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Did not know they existed! interesting design, useful for space saving and reducing clutter externally. Wow, just seen the size and weight, that is a big beast!

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Appreciate that @wittaj and I do avoid digital zoom, no worries there. Also totally understand your point, I am not a megapixel chaser but do favour low light performance. Until the 5442 series I had always favoured the 2MP starlights, but the 5442 sensor has blown me away frankly, the numbers...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Remember not to chase MP and choose the focal length to OPTICAL zoom for the distance to IDENTIFY is much better than more MP and DIGITAL zoom. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/the-importance-of-focal-length-over-mp-in-camera-selection.62472/ Excerpt from that thread: Here is a great example of...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Appreciate the feedback, the Z4E would certainly be maxed out for my use, where as the Z12 would have plenty breathing space. I am quite reluctant to buy 2MP now, once you see the 5442 series quality and IR performance, difficult to argue against them. Maybe I will have to settle on a Z12 for...

Does a 4-5MP version of the HFW5241E-Z12E exist with large sensor?

Very interesting, I am out of touch this last year or so! sadly. My HFW5241E-Z12E is running ANPR duties at about 80-90 feet and I suspect that is close to the distance I need for this new camera, maybe I will try one anyway! No doubt not really wise to use them at full zoom but the 5442 series...

    Looking for a New NVR

Hi, Thank you for your reply. In my mind the only reason considering the AcuSense NVR was added reliability, as mentioned I've always had problems with false alarms and thought perhaps an NVR with AcuSense would be better, but if the technology is already built into my cameras perhaps it is a...

Anyone out there tried these Wago connectors?

I've used them on several houses doing lighting in ceilings. No problem at all, easy to use, been about 5 years, not had the first problem. They do make you wonder though, as the contacts just kind of "clip on". I'll keep using them, at least until I have a problem.......

Need help setting up OpenVPN with fiber optic

Still working through it. If "Main Router" is considered the Eero Pro 6 then I would have to put the Brume after the Eero, I think? I also understand I'd need to port forward the Brume to the Eero. The question I have I think, don't I need to change the IP of the Brume to match the IP series...
