***PSA for those with a New DAHUA NVR with Built-in PoE switch

...new Dahua NVR doc but would like some guidance on above so I can change the password and still access my camera video feeds. As per VPN for Noobs doc I have changed to a VPN router using OpenVPN. Certainly intend keeping the cameras offline as advised. But wonder how to access the CCTV...

How to access camera remotely outside of home network for IPC-T5442T-ZE?

Do you have P2P enabled in the cam and is it showing as 'Online'? If not, check if the default gateway is correct with your router. P2P is not recommended as there are security risks. Its better to create a VPN to your home network, see here: VPN Primer for Noobs

How to view a Hikvision camera from an external network?

Best method is to set-up a VPN server on your home network's router: VPN Primer for Noobs Dahua (and hik) offer a P2P setup that is less secure in that it enables port forwarding on your network. This method increases the chances of unwanted Internet visitors gaining access to your cameras and...

3(or more) PoE switches to one Dahua non-PoE NVR?

If the only thing connected to the upstream POE switches are the cameras, then no need to make those managed. If the final POE switch that is acting as hub will have other devices connected to it, then it might make sense to manage that switch so that you don't get hacked. But if all that is...

How to stop SWANN Secure Cloud streaming

With my suggestion, they would still have the network for other purposes. You are not disabling the internet. Setting up the VPN and blocking the camera system from the internet will prevent the cameras from touching the cloud. The only time the cameras would use your internet is when you VPN...

    Potential vulnerability in NVR

You will find that they do not care about you the end user and will tell you to talk to the installer. It is why we do not allow these things to have access to the internet... Add Remote NVRs to Blue Iris

You would need to build a VPN between you and each location. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/vpn-primer-for-noobs.14601/ You will need the IP subnet to be different at each location. Looking for K.I.S.S. cameras

The Amcrest for sure would work. It comes as default address of 192.168.1.108 and you need to change it. Most of these cameras will work best with Internet Explorer, so that could be why you were having trouble with other browsers. And if you want it to be DHCP, then you are probably setting...
