Cam magically not reporting correct FPS/Key. Tried everything

Did it ever dawn n you that the CPU may be failing or some other critical component may be failing? Nope! Go back and try again. The fact that if you lower the frame and iframe rates demonstrates that there is now a problem, internally with the camera. The comments about frame rates still...

Cam magically not reporting correct FPS/Key. Tried everything

I suspect the CPU in the camera is maxing out. There is no need for 30F/ps in a surveillance camera. Hollywood uses 24F/ps for their "epics". 15F/ps will capture what is need for surveillance easily.

    CPU usage

Update Blue Iris to version 5.6.x.x or greater and implement sub streams. Your CPU should drop to around 15%, or less, depending on the CPU in use. I run 22 cameras, 2MP, 4MP and 8MP, on a 12700K and BI CPU utilization is around 5%. I'd also strongly suggest returning the Reolink for...

Low light - what to look for?

Yes, 4MP on a sensor that performs well at 2MP will result in terrible low light performance. In a 1/2.8" sensor it takes, basically, twice as much light to generate the equivalent video at 4MP than it does at 2MP. The available light is being spread over 4 million pixels versus 2 million...

Low light - what to look for?

Starlight, Full Color, ColorVu and all those other terms are exactly that, simply marketing terms invented by the marketing department. The key is the sensor size versus the resolution of the sensor. Disclaimer - These sizes are what the manufacturers advertise and may, or may not, be the true...

New to LPR? Considerations Before You Begin

Check with Andy from Empire Tech for Dahua cameras. He can supply them at great prices and ships anywhere in the world. Given the information you've provided I'd say a 5442-Z4 would more than work for you. Lots of zoom to get good captures. LPR is an art and the cameras used are dedicated...

Does CodeProjectAI require "Object Detection" set to on but DeepStack does not?

If you uncheck object detection in either DeepStack or SenseAI you need to specify custom models in the configuration of each camera's AI detection tab.

    2022 EmpireTech Chirstmas Sales

Since it's a digital signal PAL or NTSC have no real effect other than frame rate differences. Since going over 15F/ps isn't needed with surveillance cameras, with maybe a few unusual exceptions, even that becomes meaningless.

Looking for advice on my install locations.

I'm looking at it as a technical challenge to find the right balance of solar capacity to handle what is a relatively small load of lighting. I'm trying to avoid 12, 18 or 24 volt panels because then a buck converter is needed to drop the voltage down for the 18650 chargers. That means more...

    Camera Recommendation...

You should be using cameras that can see infrared light and also consider using auxiliary infrared lighting. You are working with pretty long distances for the built in infrared in a camera which can be problematic. Auxiliary infrared lighting will extend the vision range of the cameras...

Looking for advice on my install locations.

My problems with solar powered lights are that the batteries are far too small to support them overnight during the winter and that the solar panel they come with are severely under sized for the charge rates needed. I'm testing an 18 watt, 6 volt, panel to charge 18650's in the lights I use...

Looking for advice on my install locations.

My comment is that if you're happy with how things are working, great! I would get another camera or two on the garage door/driveway area mounted at the top of the overhead doors. I'd also want something much lower to cover the front door approach and get solid ID shots. With the stone...

Browser for IP-Cams which need ActiveX and are not supported by new Browser generations anymore

If you're running Win10 try typing "explorer" in the search bar. That should bring up a list that includes good, old, Internet Explorer. Bring that up and simply type in the IP of the camera (assuming your PC is on the 192.168.1.xxx subnet). The port number is inconsequential. If you can't...

    BI vs NVR

I'm very cautious of BV Tech switches. To me their power supplies are very weak, will not start under load. I had one that needed to be nursed through a restart, unplug all cameras, let the switch boot, then plug cameras back in one at a time, more than once. One day it failed after a power...
