Blue Iris computer poof in the middle of the night - any ideas what happened?

Power supplies in PCs are generally pretty good. But, it's always good to use a UPS. Having dealt with this particular issue in the past, it is always good to make sure you get one with AVR. Most any cheap surge protectors will protect you from the + spikes in voltage. But, what can be worse...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Thanks, I may have to play with that with my 2231 ZS cameras substream bitrates. I thought motion detection would be sufficient, but I was wrong. They have my PTZ camera zipping around for false alarms due to the foliage we have. They make good overview cameras, but I'm kicking myself for not...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Just curious on this. What are any advantages with using 1024 over 768? Does it make human detection more accurate if done in BI via DS or Codeproject? Any other reasons someone would choose to have a higher substream bitrate?

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Well, I'm out of ideas why it would change it back. @wittaj was the one who clued me in on why my settings weren't sticking because I was using Chrome...Maybe he or @EMPIRETECANDY has an idea of why it's not working.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

I had similar issues when I tried using a browser other than IE. Any reason why you need 1024 on the substream?

    2023 EmpireTech Memorial Day Sales

That's hilarious...But no such luck. I opened it up and it's my new camera. Too bad that I'm busy, or I'd put the camera up this evening. Something to look forward to soon.

    2023 EmpireTech Memorial Day Sales

@EMPIRETECANDY, I think you need to work on your shipping...Almost 24 hours and my camera hasn't been delivered yet... I really didn't expect this to get out this quickly. There is a warehouse nearby, but it isn't a real big one and so it's hit or miss on next day delivery...Dog's barking must...

@EMPIRETECANDY, I'd like to file a complaint about slow delivery...: I know it's after 7pm here, but I'd like my camera today not tomorrow... Kidding aside, I guess I have a warehouse close by or something...I'm not really expecting that camera tomorrow.

Desktop Drive for BI Stored Folder?

I guess I'll rethink this and split the cameras between the drives. Thanks.

Desktop Drive for BI Stored Folder?

I guess what my thoughts were is that the purple drives are "designed" for continuous writing. This is what's happening in the New folder. Whereas in the Stored folder BI is just moving the files there periodically. There's probably not much difference between performance requirements, and from...

Install pipe under concrete driveway for less than 6 bucks!

It's fine, just squirt some of this stuff in there: And, call it a day... Kidding aside, it's probably a better solution to drill holes along the path before putting the conduit in. Install the conduit. Then inject some type of expanding foam (and some do suggest the above product for an...

Desktop Drive for BI Stored Folder?

I have a desktop drive that I added to the BI computer. I understand that constant writing will end up shortening the life of the drive, but how long should I expect it to last? Is there any real difference between the constant writing to the New folder and how BI moves files to the Stored...

    Gt1030 to help offload CPU?

I have a GT 1030. I just switched over to CodeProject and tried the CPU only module. I was getting response times between 1 and 2.5 seconds. I tried the GPU module and that dropped the response time by a factor of about 8 to around 320ms-340ms.

    Asus Routers Issue - May 17 2023

I have an Asus router and wasn't home when this happened. I didn't notice an outage when I got home the day before yesterday or yesterday. I didn't read the whole thread, but I'll update firmware when I get home tonight. Here's the official response from Asus that was at the bottom of the...

Setting up PTZ and choosing Spotter cams...

It's kind of both. I don't have AI (well, they detect motion, which I suppose some could argue is a type of AI) on my spotters, but if I did I'd use that to trigger my PTZ (I'll upgrade those spotters one day). Then I use Deepstack AI to trigger alert events when a person or animal is on my...

Setting up PTZ and choosing Spotter cams...

Well, unless that 2MP camera is my 49225... Kidding aside, so he could expect somewhere between 36 to 125 feet (with the caveats you mentioned) to have the 3241 identify people and direct the PTZ. So, it sounds like that may be the right camera for what he's trying to do.

Setting up PTZ and choosing Spotter cams...

Yeah, looking around, I don't see the 5241E-4, which may cover the area you are looking at, even if it was available from Andy, I'm guessing it would be around $220 because the LPR version 5241-12 costs $250. If you are using this camera as a spotter, you don't even have to use human detection...

Setting up PTZ and choosing Spotter cams...

The 3241 may be the best price/performance option to use as a spotter cam depending on the situation. But if you need lower light performance at distance a bullet is better than a turret because it has more IR lights. The question is how far do you mean by "at distance". If you mean 65 ft, then...

    Upgrading OS Drive

Good news! The HD upgrade went flawlessly, as I kinda expected...It's nice when things work out that way. Now onto upgrading to CodeProject. My current BI install is version 5.5.6.15. Unfortunately I don't see how to add CodeProject as the AI. The suggested upgrade upon launching BI is 5.7.5.6...

What are you all using to control your PTZ?

Agreed. Keep in mind they make versions with fewer keys for cheaper. Here's the smallest one I could find with 6 keys which should work for a lot of people for $73: https://www.amazon.com/Elgato-Stream-Deck-MK-2-Controller/dp/B07DYRS1WH?th=1&psc=1

    The official "WTF" thread

Good point! And, I'm pretty sure the NEC doesn't directly disallow sandles as a flotation device for power strips...so, it's probably good there...that's why I didn't have a comment about that.

    Upgrading OS Drive

Amazon had a 500gb drive for $39. My plan is to replace the 128gb OS drive in my BI computer. Here's my plan: Shutdown BI (anyone know how to do this gracefully?) By going into services and stopping anything that says BI. Clone the drive with Samsung Magician. Shutdown the computer. Swap the...
