    CPU suggestion?

Ahhh, my mistake, well that is impressive, but I don't think i'll be upgrading my cameras in the near term so I guess BI AI:). So GPU it is then? I'll go through this tutorial as best I can and see where I end up, then I guess maybe shoot for a i7-8700 with a 32gb of memory, SSD and a 1060...

    CPU suggestion?

Thanks so much for all that info! First I'll answer the one thing I can answer then try to clarify the many things you said that I didn't understand: all 16 are Amcrest UltraHD 4k IP8M-T2499EW https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0962HN4VR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 This is truly...

    CPU suggestion?

I have had a blue iris instance running with Deepstack on a Dell Optiplex with a i7-4770K, 32gb of memory and a SSD for a couple years now. I followed this guide: . I set everything up with substreams and it MOSTLY worked, but tbh it was about 90% set up, I had a couple of small children, one...

I understand thank you! I was just clarifying that I'm not seeing Short clips. They are are, say, 30 seconds in length but seem to be a combination of a number of 7 second clips...In any event I think i need to enact your suggested times, mine don't seem to make a ton of sense for my...

Man thank you so much, this is so helpful! I think you probably figured it out but to be clear my AI Tool-triggered clips are not especially short but seem to jump around (as in it's at least continuous. I suppose they are comprised of combined shorter clips but I just wanted to make that...

I set them all to 3 secs, but now that you mention that I do remember that break time has to play nice with another time setting, the cool down? There is also a Pre-trigger buffer of 5secs and i take a jpeg on a cloned camera every 4 secs. Though couldn't remember where cool down was right away...

[tool] [tutorial] Free AI Person Detection for Blue Iris

I am noticing that my AI triggered video clips are jumping around a bit (i.e. are not a continuous clip). I was under the impression the checking the "Record No Signal and Inactive Frames" was the option to stop the skipping around? Would i also need this "retriggers" option?

Thanks for the continued help @Village Guy ! Is there a best practice for getting the Docker up and running on Windows10. I remember from my read through that people were having a LOT of issues setting it up. Any good tutorial out there you'd recommend?

Finally got around to switching over all my cameras and it seems to be working really well. I wasn't experiencing much high usage on my cpu before i cloned the cameras but it's clearly lower now, thanks so much @Village Guy ! I have since deleted all the non cloned dupe cameras I also switched...

So when you say "select clone" are you referring to the "Clone Master" toggle box on the General tab? or is this something on the next tab? Seems like the location changed over the versions pertinant to this tread, but I seem to only be able to locate the one on the General tab.

I will give Tasker another go, you've convinced me, now just to find a use case  I would assume (and think i'm seeing) that regardless of whether you have "Clone Master" clicked, the CPU overhead is saved (i.e. not acting as if it's running 2 cameras instead of 1 and a clone), so i guess...

thank you so much for that color on the your system. Sounds very thorough and interesting. I did some work in Tasker back when i had the first Moto X but abandoned it when it was misreading my battery state and one of my Low battery profiles was paradoxically crushing my battery whenever it was...

So the top one that uses the [UK] Home profile is the Master and the one takes jpegs and sends them to AI Tool on ALL motion? And the bottom one that uses the [Spain] Home profile is Clone and the one that is triggered by AI Tool confirmed events? along the same line: Which logical camera...

Very cool, thanks for all that. Yes my BI is def due for an update and that was my planned first step. If I delete the Main/HD stream on the 2nd logical camera, will it still act as a clone in regards to the low CPU overhead?

My dude! this is just insanely helpful, thank you so much. Two questions: I've never seen the "Record Dual-Streams if Available" option before. Is that checked by default and I just never noticed it? or is that a necessary configuration for something in your setup? Where are you defining the...

Very cool, i def feel like I understand in principle but i'm sure I'll hit a snag or 2 on actual implementation. Are you recommending I delete the SD Sub stream on the clone/"second logical camera"?

I think once I'm comfortable with the configuration i'll def hide one set of them. Just wanted to make sure the one recording on the SD would display in HD (I assume both clones will have both streams)

Right on, i'm gonna switch my duplicate camera set up over asap. I assume I should clone first and change all settings in AITool before deleting all the low res dupes i created before. If you can think of any more gotcha's i might encounter I'd love to hear them! Thanks again

Yeah it took me a while but i finally got there! However I'll take all the re-enforcing explanations I can get, so thanks (and def slightly less, not more confused)! My only remaining question regarding the clones is WHERE exactly do I select to make it a clone. I saw a couple screengrabs of...

I agree with @CAL7 , even if it sounds testy, i greatly appreciate the back and forth on this subject. I've never had a home surveillance system, and personally, it does seem wasteful to record 24x7 BUT I can totally envision the scenario where I'm livid I missed the ONE thing I wanted to catch...

y'all, i did it! 157 pages read. It took a month (did it when I had a sec here and there), and I'm not sure it was worth it (over a more targeted approach that is) but I def have a much better understanding of how everything works together and where the project has gone. Little embarrassed about...

Ahhh ty! I think it finally clicked. So, since it has to be the same resolution to be a clone, were people adding the low res substream to the main camera, and THEN cloning in BI to record 24/7 and take snapshots? The answer to this question actually leads me to the next part of your followup...

This is a super helpful response, thank you! What is the process for actually cloning the camera? and not doing Rob/The Hookup's method (creating the 2nd stream of cameras)? I'm powering through the thread but it is slow going, i'm only on page 62/147. I've so far seen a screenshot of a radio...

Thanks so much for that response! 20 or so pages back i had a big back and forth with a few people as I struggled to grasp the concept of clones. Thanks to their help, I think i eventually grasped it (had conflated it with dual stream), and I think the confusion was that I followed The Hookup's...
