New (higher spec) CPU requirements for Windows 11 24H2

It looks like this was all just a misunderstanding. Signs suggest that 8th gen Intel will continue to be supported in Windows 11 updates for the foreseeable future. You can see the original webpage which caused this misunderstanding here via archive.org: Windows processor requirements Windows...

    Weight value as overlay

Interesting project. It sounds like the device only provides the weight data via a websocket. The JsonDataExtractor app does not support using a websocket to receive data. It requires the JSON payload to be delivered as the response to a simple HTTP request. You would have to ask the company...

Words That Make My Blood Pressure Spike

So, actually, I literally could care less what the boomers hating on reolink cameras think because at the end of the day they are taking it to the next level. I'll show myself out.

    Blue Iris UI3

Pause icon bug fixed in UI3-285. As for the new alerts icon, I can't find any bugs in that implementation. Most likely something else is causing the newalerts field in your camera metadata to be reset to 0 prematurely, causing the icon to disappear for that camera. If you view an alert for a...

    Blue Iris UI3

@Buxton UI3-284 includes these new features. It is just overlay icons for now, because I suspect a long-lasting toast message would be annoying to the point of being disruptive. Version 284 Added a system for UI3 to store settings on a per-camera basis. UI Settings > Event Triggered Icons...

    Blue Iris UI3

Hi @Buxton. I should be able to do that quite easily. I have a system in place for showing icons when certain camera properties are set, and "paused" is one of the properties available for consideration so I just need to code that up. This is a more open-ended suggestion, and significantly...

    Upgrading question, How easy?

Blue Iris 5 should be compatible with windows 7 so I don't expect that to be an issue. More concerning is the CPU (and the rest of the system built around it). The Core 2 Duo E4300 came out in 2006 and has extremely poor performance by modern standards. You probably don't have a huge amount...

    Blue Iris UI3

@EvanVanVan no idea :( It won't be a fault of your BI version. It also isn't likely to be a firewall issue since it works from your phone. And you obviously have the VPN connection working since you can ping the BI machine from your affected machine.

How to reduce random pixel snowflakes

It would help to see that in motion to be more sure of what it is. If this was captured at night and the noise moves randomly with every frame then it is just sensor noise due to low light and you may be able to improve it by increasing 3D noise reduction. However this can have negative...

    static ip question

Only because it CAN be done. And maybe because of a bit of misplaced fear about IPv4 address scarcity. The private 10.x.x.x IP address space has nearly 17 million addresses. It is enough for 65536 distinct /24 subnets (a.k.a. subnet mask 255.255.255.0) so there is not much reason to ever use...

What will it take to go from 15fps to 30fps?

Maybe they remove h.265 support because the hardware isn't up to the task and it causes problems at 30 FPS? :)

What will it take to go from 15fps to 30fps?

You need to figure out what component of the system is dropping the frames. There are a few opportunities for frames to be dropped. First opportunity is within the camera itself due to using underpowered hardware that can't keep up with the demands. This is probably the most likely situation...

    static ip question

With such limited information, I am fairly sure the customer is asking for the NVR's public network interface to be assigned the address 10.2.2.2 with subnet mask 255.255.255.240, and they PROBABLY don't care what IP addresses the cameras have as long as the NVR can communicate with them...

    Ports used for update check?

Standard HTTPS port 443 (TCP) is used for the update check. You would also need to allow DNS queries. Of course if you allow DNS and TCP 443 from the Blue Iris machine's IP, then you're certainly allowing a lot more than just Blue Iris update checks. It would not surprise me if the majority...

Interesting bug. I haven't seen that before. It is definitely Blue Iris doing something weird (UI3 could not do that even if it wanted to).

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

The timeline playback API, by design, can be queried for ANY date that has already passed (I think January 1, 1970 is the minimum date), and if there is no clip at the requested time, then Blue Iris either delivers a gray box saying "No Video" or seeks to the next clip (if you have the "skip...

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

This has been in since the timeline originally launched in UI3. The exact behavior is really up to Blue Iris; UI3 just starts requesting timeline video at the specified date or offset and maybe you have "skip dead air" configured or not. timeline=DATE tl=Opens the timeline tab and seeks to...

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

Technically yes it is optional but I get the impression you think it is related to main stream vs sub stream. That isn't its function. The stream= argument tells BI which of the web server encoding profiles to use. So I think your stream is based on "Streaming 0" whether you include stream=0...

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

Looks like you just take any valid timeline jpeg URL and change the word "jpeg" to "mjpeg". It might not be documented very well in Blue Iris's help file. Ken and I worked out the original details of remote timeline streaming together via email years ago so I didn't build it based on the help...

What is BI 5.9.9.20 doing every 2 minutes?

This (also shown in your small video above) is Blue Iris displaying the sub stream briefly while it gets a new video decoder started up to show you the main stream. It is normal behavior when maximizing a camera (solo viewing a single camera). It is worrying that your system would switch back...

The last i knew Blue Iris only supports Nvidia and Intel QuickSync GPU acceleration, NOT AMD

The BI team is just one guy and I do not think hardware acceleration is a priority anymore. Unlike something like Jellyfin where a bunch of passionate people work on it and want it to transcode as efficiently as possible.

The last i knew Blue Iris only supports Nvidia and Intel QuickSync GPU acceleration, NOT AMD

That is right. AMD's acceleration never got implemented as far as I know. There are some generic methods in the dropdown list, "DirectX VA2" and "Direct3D11 VA", but it is not clear to me that those ever did anything. For a few years now, hardware acceleration is not really worth the trouble...

Windows utility to set Hikvision Image Parameters Switch Scenes based on local sunrise sunset times

I like building apps that way too. Unfortunately I also like making things that are small and light weight and user friendly all at the same time, and that is hard to do when you need a modern web browser engine to run the GUI. Like my PingTracer app -- it is just a 210 KB executable that runs...

New to BI - Confused AF and need some help please!

I know some of this has already been covered above, but I can answer these questions directly. 1. Yes. Direct to disk just means that Blue Iris doesn't do expensive re-encoding of the video when writing it to video files. Remote viewing does require re-encoding which is pretty much just done...

Possible to implement dual NIC with detatched garage fed by fiber?

This common advice is only meant to prevent people using their crappy internet router as a network switch. For example, someone plugs their Blue Iris PC into their ISP-provided router so that all IP cam traffic has to pass through the internet router, and it happens to be a crappy router that...

BlueIris on Proxmox VM - cpu up and down?

I would still try with more memory allocated if possible (i'm guessing you don't have much available though). And I'd also not assign all 4 cores to one VM as it seems like that would introduce a high probability that the VM would have to spend a lot of time waiting for the entire CPU to be...

BlueIris on Proxmox VM - cpu up and down?

Setting CPU type to host probably won't affect this either but it does not hurt. That memory allocation of 2.5 GiB is really low even if you've modded Windows to trim the fat. Does your node have enough RAM that you could allocate more to see if it makes a difference?

BlueIris on Proxmox VM - cpu up and down?

How many cores had you assigned to the VM? I'm assuming it is 5 and that the CPU usage spikes therefore are the result of one thread getting busy. It seems very unlikely this is a consequence of virtualization. Based on that graph it looks like precisely every 6 minutes something causes CPU...
