Another Blue Iris CPU post... opinion

I know this is an over talked subject but wouldn't mind a quick opinion. I have a.. well.. the system listed in my signature and I really need to upgrade the CPU... my CPU.. although a 8core/16thread cpu is some cheap Chinese server version or something and is only clocked at 1.6GHZ. I'm...

    Blue Iris Update Helper (BiUpdateHelper)

I was using the helper tool to compare my system as I'm looking to upgrade, and it took me a second to figure out the MP/s goes off the "max frame rate" setting. For awhile I thought maybe my system went crazy since cameras were showing as high as 39fps when only set to 8fps lol not sure how BI...

Stay with Hik or switch to Dahua.... ipc-hdw443c-a vs ds-2cd2342wd-i

I have setup probably around 50 Hikvision cameras.. Have come to love the ds-2cd2342wd-i turrets, and I was getting them for $55. Here recently, due to china having to play fair, those prices have jumped a ton. I have never owned a Dahua, but have another area I am going to need to add cameras...

    Blue Iris UI3

Hey, well I'll give NetTime a try.. I have that running at the system I deployed at a school. Getting that setup here to keep time via my cameras, instead of the server clock, has been on my "forgotten" to do list anyhoo. BTW that yellow network slow flag was the first I seen in 24hrs and these...

    Blue Iris UI3

Hey... You made a lightbulb go off in my brain with your 1st scenario. With the system my server is on, I have had to occasionally turn the auto time sync off and back on again to get it perfectly in sync again. It seems to wander a minute every couple months or so. Haven't figured out why yet...

    Blue Iris UI3

I came in this morning to the yellow "your network connection is not fast enough" message again. (I've had this occasionally since I started using UI3/Opera but seems less often now I think) Clicking into a camera and back out makes it go away. I tested my LAN speed to the server while that...

Mkay.. I updated to V43... I'll keep an eye out for anymore yellow pop-ups. Muy Bueno!

    Blue Iris UI3

I've also had a yellow "network is to slow for this stream" error when running a camera cycle group via Opera. Even with a low network load and I've speed tested my network to the BI server at around 700Mbps so it's not that slow. I believe I have all our PC's on the windows 10 1803 Anyways...

    Blue Iris UI3

I get this yellow "stream is becoming delayed" message with Opera fairly often as well. Ever since switching to Opera to run UI3. The stream for sure becomes very delayed so it's not false information =). A quick refresh always fixes it though for awhile. Been to busy to try to find a pattern...

    Blue Iris UI3

As you know you are, you are correct. :)... Well.. I still think UI2 is about .2 seconds faster when switching around just because it doesn't have that spinning circle animation, but maybe that's just me lol. Anyways, I think I do prefer the UI3 stream as long as I use a browser that plays nice...

    Blue Iris UI3

Long time UI2 user with no complaints on that. Running on about 4 PC's 24/7.. decided to try UI3 on my PC and things I've right off noticed... on Edge .. which yes I know it's Edge I've had many other issues with that project =).. but after using it for a couple minutes, switching through...

Hikvision camera admin password reset tool

Just had your application style option work for a camera running the "grey version" of 5.4.20 that randomly wouldn't take it's password and that HikUSA wouldn't help with since it was "grey". Worked like a champ thanks!

Blueiris h264 with quicksync vs h265

Yeah, Currently I have an 850 Pro 128GB with the OS, BI, and the DB and then three 3TB WD red drives taking care of all the clips. Things are still manageable just, it def. used to be a lot faster and seems to have slowed as I've grown. Maybe it's just because of the large database as well, idk...

Blueiris h264 with quicksync vs h265

Hey, yes that's the system that convinced me to wait out and just do a rebuild with an 8th gen i7 later this year instead of just bumping up the cores and clock speed some =) Probably the main problem I'm noticing with this older CPU is lag while searching through alerts and events. Like if I...

Blueiris h264 with quicksync vs h265

Well the blue iris update helper by bp2008 was quite helpful at answering my cores vs hardware acceleration question... Blue Iris Update Helper It's showing someone with an i7-7700k (that has hardware accel and clocked faster but only HALF the threads as the CPU I'm using) Is handling a lot...

Blueiris h264 with quicksync vs h265

Hey thanks, I will def. take your word for it as you know more about this than I for sure. Looking ahead I see power being an issue as I keep growing the system it seems. My 8 core ivy is at about 50% right now and I've noticed some occasional ghosting and playback lag that seems to change...

Blueiris h264 with quicksync vs h265

I guess I assumed it took more processing power at the camera but since it's a smaller file that it was less of a load for BI, but maybe currently the only real advantage of h265 within BI is the fact that it's just a smaller file eh? So probably most efficient to have a processor with quicksync...

Blueiris h264 with quicksync vs h265

Currently I'm just using a big ol un-fancy processor to run my main system. (see my sig). Most all my cameras are now on h265 (although I believe currently, h264 gives a better picture on my hiks, h265 I assume uses less resources so that's what I do if the camera has the option). I'm always...

Advice for 45 2mp cameras and 18 month video storage on 8700k.

Maybe something you already know, but something I learned when considering something similar to what your trying to achieve with our insurance company. If for any reason the camera system is down, insurance can refuse to cover things since it's part of the whole insurance policy. So because of...

    WDR advice. It's being a wonderful/terrible thing

I have no idea what WDR does to a picture that the LED's throw such a fit but after playing with all the settings here's what I have working. Not "ideal" but much better than where it was. The iris only had a "manual" setting and by default it's 1/25. Pretty much every shutter speed is crap all...

    WDR advice. It's being a wonderful/terrible thing

Just making sure we're on the same page. The light created by the LED lights is flickering in the video image not the actual physical lights. But anyways. I messed with exposure settings, and made one camera always on "night mode" right now and it's slightly better but definitely not ideal. But...

    WDR advice. It's being a wonderful/terrible thing

Will try. I guess the graininess isn't too bad most the time. For sure the flickering is the worst. I have masked out a lot of the flickering but the problem is it's pretty much the entire entrance that is flickering (doors/floors/etc) so can't really mask it all and still be effective. The...

    WDR advice. It's being a wonderful/terrible thing

So I recently installed 7 hikvision 4mp DS-2CD2145F-IS cameras running at 1080/10FPS with WDR on @70 (all other camera settings still stock). They have some dark hallways with LED "always on" fixtures at the doors. To fix this I use wdr and it really brightens the dark areas. However..... WDR...

    Blue Iris "user" server access?

I use UI2 for general viewing and Love it. However, I've never had good luck downloading clips from there, and I have blue iris recording in bvr, so have always found it MUCH easier to save/cut clips straight from Blue Iris. Maybe I'm missing something in UI2 but last I tried, saving clips from...

    Blue Iris "user" server access?

I am quite familiar with Blue iris, just making sure I wasn't missing something, as it seems they add features quite often. Anyways, I trust this guy and it's their system so don't mind giving him administrator access. For clarity, I'm talking about user access to the Blue Iris GUI itself not...

    Blue Iris "user" server access?

Hi, I am going to be training a school superintendent to use the actual blue iris server GUI via RDP, so that he can be in charge of monitoring/recording/ maybe schedules/etc. Is there a way to grant someone server access as a user, that way he can't totally screw something up? Thanks

Multiple blue iris servers on one phone.

So I like having my Blue iris app "auto login" but I'm coming to a point where I think I need to split cameras into different servers. I have our business and 3 different houses all bridged together right now, and now a school has come to me wanting me to be in charge of there property...

Blue Iris notification and schedule limitations

Somehow I missed this reply. but I just meant alerts that send me notifications based on my profiles I just worded it terribly. But it sounds my thoughts were correct. There's no easy way to make these happen. I did not realize the main screen schedule shortcut though, so thanks for that.

Blue Iris notification and schedule limitations

The "profiles" change but not the "schedules" correct? like if you wanted a different schedule for christmas, you would have to manually change it?

Blue Iris notification and schedule limitations

Quick question. I went ahead and setup a schedule that sends me notifications. Was curious... Is it possible to have notifications sent to different users for different schedules? For example. If I have a night schedule, could I have camera A notifications sent to mobile phone A and camera B to...
